Haven't laughed so much in a long time. Moral of the story is don't be a compulsive buyer...

The fool! It works same as the price match some retailers do - the manufacturer refunds the retailer the difference. At least this is what they told me at hirsches.

With specials like this one it's the manufacturer clearing the stock, no doubt the retailer is not the one giving that kinda discount.

The upscaling is great. No issues for me (but then I haven't played with it much). I have watched a 1080p which looked great.

Hooked it up to the PC with an HDMI cable yesterday and that works well too. I can't get the entire taskbar to show on the bottom properly - it is getting cropped off. Will need to try to tweak something.....any ideas??

This is normally the aspect ratio settings. Change it to "just scan" (or similar option as I am referring to a LG) and that will sort you out.

So to the guys that bought the UA50HU7000, what do you think of it?

I currently have a UA48H5500 and am thinking of getting the UA50HU7000.

- Does it disort 720p or 1080p video?
- Any other issues you have picked up?

It's a flipping awesome TV! No regrets buying it.

We did experience some issues with our original HDMI cable. The TV kept switching off. They recommended a thin HDMI cable - one of those angled jobbies. We just bought a normal thin one and that was the end of those issues.

Watching the bit of 2k stuff that we managed to find online has been awesome but that content is limited atm. Doesn't phase us because the upscaling that it does on our normal stuff is just brilliant!

I have the UA55HU7200 - fantastic display and clarity once you get the settings right. It spoils other TV's though :)

yep, very happy with mine, except for the following niggles:

1. that media player is retarded: when playing series, it plays the next episode it finds in the folder - as expected. But when it comes to music, it plays only the track selected, and even when I have chosen 'Select All', it only plays the one track. FFS, who codes this k*k?

2. the Samsung remote switch everything off but not on? SWAMBO is not impressed

3. When switching on the TV, it always defaults to ARC, which means I then have to manually switch the AVR to DSTV to reset the sound to the Explora

What's with the "dongle included", "Microphone included" and "Skype ready"? Am I missing these bits, or are they built in and I haven't found them yet?

Dongle is the IR range extender? Mic is in the remote. Skype - you need to plug in a camera via USB/Bluetooth?

2. My smart remote does switch everything on and off? Do you have HDMI control on?
3. The answer is to plug DSTV directly into the TV and not the AVR. I had the same issue. AVR now provides the sound for everything (set on TV), but ATV, Xbox, DSTV all plug directly into TV.

Anyone know if the smart remote that the UA50HU7000 comes with can operate the HD 4 Tuner PVR?

Yep, HDMI control is on.

I thought of doing DSTV -> TV -> AVR, but I want the AVR to drive all the sound. So Wii, PS3, etc, all plug into the AVR, and then one HDMI cable to the TV.

When I want to watch stuff via SmartTV like DLNA, YouTube, etc., the ARC just takes over and sends the sound to the AVR.

With this setup, I need only one cable to the TV, less messy.

minor niggle though.
