Always better to change to suit your environment but for what it is worth here are mine:

Picture Mode: Movie
Backlight: 18
Contrast: 80
Brightness: 50
Sharpness: 0
Colour: 50
Tint G50/R50

Advanced Settings
Dynamic Contrast: Off
Black Tone: Off
Flesh Tone: 0
RGB Only: Off
Colour Space: Auto
White Balance: Left alone on 0 for 2/10
Gamma: 0
Motion Lighting: Off

Picture Options
Colour Tone: Warm2
Digital Clean View: Off
MPEG Noise filter: Off
Film Mode: Auto2
Motion Plus: Off

Awesome thanks will try it, I agree with adjusting to suit the environment, I'm just trying to get rid of the pixelation for now.

Thanks again.

Do you guys get vertical banding on your LED TV?

Download this grey background and see how bad yours is http://i.imgur.com/uD2xe.jpg

My 46H7000 looks like this. I Have contacted Samsung to come take a look.

View attachment 200910

That line on the left bugs me, it's mostly noticeable on grey, light brown, green and blue backgrounds when panning.

Could it be a faulty back light on its way out. When viewing picture keep your eyes on the left where it bugs you do you notice any discolouration...

Anyone know if the UA50HU7000 can use Bluetooth headphones? The sales person at DW says no, but I have read otherwise.

If so, then will the Polaroid ones on special at Game be any good (R290) ?

PS: I am using IR ones at the moment and there is a lot of static.

To answer my own question - Yes. They work fine out of the box with no additional equipment needed.
Only problem is the out-of-sync audio. Bluetooth has a big delay.

I can't see any way on the TV to compensate. You seem to be able to add an extra delay to the sound, but not to the pic.
Any suggestions will be welcome.

Htpc with kodi (xbmc). Won't help if you need sync corrected with DSTV though

Has anyone with the UA50HU7000 managed to figure out how to display the time while the TV is on?

from Samsung Support:

that would not be possible the time will never display on the screen when the tv is showing a moving objects, only it will display when you turning it on.

It will only again display when you press the info button on the remote

Is anybody else with the UA50HU7000 using the HDMI ARC input? If so, any issues?

Yep I am but not back to the amp just as a fourth hdmi input, sending audio back via optical cable and controlling the amp via smart remote.

@Terumo, when you switch on your DSTV, AVR, TV, does it default to ARC?

I have all my devices plugged into my AVR, and the AVR plugged into the HDMI ARC. When I switch on the TV, the sound from my DSTV comes through fine, but after a few seconds, the TV takes over the ARC and then obviously there's no more sound. I then have to manually switch the input on my AVR to get the DSTV sound back.

ARC works fine when I want to play YouTube, etc., it's just on startup that it kicks in when it shouldn't, as the input is set to DSTV. So in effect, with I switch on my TV, I have DSTV picture & sound for around 5-7s, then I only have picture. Then I have to manually set the input on the AVR to DSTV so that the sound overrides the silent ARC

If my AVR is off, there's obviously no picture/sound on the TV, but even if I switch on the AVR after I've switched on the TV, the same thing happens.

Mine does the same thing, even on my previous Samsung TV it did that. I had a PS51E550, but ive gotten so used to it that it's no longer an issue lol.

How did you program your smart remote to operate your amp?

You need to use the IR extender, can't remember the exact process offhand, it's under the universal remote set up if I remember correctly in the settings menu.
