That 55K390PAD looks identical to the LG 55LB652, even the stand looks identical!!!!

Not sure about the Hisense UHD tv but another option is the LG like I bought, the 50LB652 which is also R9999 at Makro. But I guess if you don't have a problem with the Hisense brand (I don't but unfortunately the wife does, else I would have bought the 55K390PAD), then I say go for the Hisense 55 inch.
Thanks.

Thinking of pulling budget back to R7k-R7,5k.
I am looking for as big as possible with as little lag as possible. Not interested in 3D, smart, etc.
What are my options?

OK Furniture has a Hisense 50 inch Full HD for R6498.

This is the Hisense site for specs:

This is the ad:

Not sure if it meets your requirements. Specs say it's a 100Hz tv. Maybe take some stuff on a USB drive and test it out in store.

What is the best 37-40" LED for under R4500?
I saw the Hisense 40" but don't know if it's good.
Don't care about 3D or smart features just a cheap decent TV.

I think at that budget, your only option is the Hisense 40 inch at Pick n Pay or Hifi Corp. R3699 at HiFi Corp and R3999 at Pick n Pay.

I'm still kicking myself for not jumping at the 50" Samsung UHD special from Dion wired.
Do you know of any similar specials? 46-55" UHD preferred, and Samsung if possible.

Hi, SAMSUNG 40" Smart FHD LED model 40H5303 is going for R5 990 at Game. Is this the best value for money amongst the big brands (Samsung, LG) for a smart tv under R6000? How important is the smart features anyway for somebody just watching normal tv?

Yeah I also wish I had bought that one, unfortunately, the deal with the wife was I had to sell the old tv before getting a new one. By the time I found a buyer for the old tv, the offer had finished.

What is your guys opinion on this LG.

http://www.makro.co.za/electronics/lg-50-127cm-full-hd-led-tv-285259EA

If my understanding is correct, Makro is planning on selling this one for R6 999 from the end of this week.

I am looking for a TV to use with my xbox one and wii for the 3yr old. Will watch some DVDs and downloaded content as well on the TV. Viewing distance is 2-2,5m.

I can't find any reviews on this TV so far.

EDIT: Budget is not more than R8k.

I am after some advice on the best LED or Plasma TV in the 55 to 60 inch range for R12k - R15k. Picture quality is more important than features like 3D or SmartTV. Watch a lot of sport so possibly need higher Hz? Not interested in Sinoteq or Hisense.

Please could you advise on your views here and if anyone is aware of any specials let me know.

Does anyone have some helpful recommendations? Which is the best 50 - 60 inch LED for under R15k?

What are these two plasmas like?

Samsung PA60H5000 60 inch HD Plasma TV

LG 60PB6900 60 inch Pentouch Plasma TV

I thought I didn't need SMART. But I ended up with it anyways. After a few weeks with it, I think I would have kicked myself if I didn't get it. It is a lot of fun to play with online stuff, and Hulu/Netflix etc etc.
Rather get it...who knows what you will be able to do with it in a year or 2. And you don't need to out and buy a separate media player like Roku etc.

in a year or 2 you will be still be doing the same things
these smart functions hardly ever get updated, they are usually forgotten about when the new model is released

Thanks.

How do the LG 55LB7200 (called LG 55LB720T in SA) vs Samsung UN55H6400 compare?

I bought this one from Dion Wired for R14000. Disappointed with the sound, but thoroughly impressed with everything else!
http://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-55LB7200-led-tv

I bought the same one as you (LG 55LB652) except mine doesn't have the 2.1 speaker system built in. I was going to go for the one you had but after listening to the sound, didn't think it was worth the extra and thought I'd rather spend the extra cash on a sound bar which I did end up doing.

Other than the sound - the TV is amazing!!! The picture quality is great and everything just looks and works great.

Bought the same TV and very happy with it. Only difference I could find between 55LB652 and 55LB720 was the 2.0 sound vs 2.1 sound and since I use a home theater system, it would make no difference.

I am curious though, is it possible to put the latest webos software from a US model on a local TV, anyone tried it?

Yeah that is correct - everything is the same except for the 2.0-2.1 speakers.

I honestly don't know if you can "flash" a different region firmware or if it's possible. I know LG are very strict with their software/region specific but there was a workaround some guys did on this forum but it involved playing back sounds and certain IR signals ect. Do you want to use US software for Netflix or are there better features?

Did some digging and seems like the only difference would be the apps, would definitely want Netflix and HBO.
I read the thread on changing the regions using sounds and IR, frankly it seems daunting and concerned that I would mess it up.
BTW what version of webos do you have on your TV?
My tv is on 04.60.37 and clicked on check for update and it says no update available. When I go onto the LG website and enter the model number it shows 04.62.50 as the latest.

Yeah in all honesty that is too much effort for me. Besides the fact I have a roku which has Netflix, Hulu ect and can guarantee it will work better as well.

Can only check the version tomorrow as we are currently enjoying nice candle-lit time courtesy of ESKOM.
