LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

Anyone know if R15k for a Samsung 60" 5 series plasma is decent?

Guys I'm looking for a Sammy UA55HU7000 UHD TV in Cape Town for the best price. Any tips on where to look?? Orms has it for R18,100.

The LG 55UB850T that I found for R17,999, looks more stylish and has a few better features, but the samsung's picture is better. Almost nobody seems to stock it in Cape Tow. In Joburg you can get it for R16,900!

Hey. Where did you see the 55UB850T for R16900? Up in jhb.

Seriously considering this to switch from plasma to LED and it seems like a very nice price. Thoughts?

Why not rather get the LG 60" FHD plasma for R8k - R10k less? There are a few floating around. Or the Samsung one, if you can?

Plasma owners who change/'upgrade' to LCD tend to miss their plasmas, regardless of buying higher end LCDs to try and make up for the difference in PQ.

If you love your plasma because you know it is better than LCD, you will miss it.

I currently have a PS60E550. The problem is that watching TV during the day is horrible because of the reflective screen and there's nothing I can do about it because the lounge and adjacent rooms have lots of windows, including skylights.

Love the PQ of the plasma at night but it just doesn't justify the bad daytime viewing.

Then you might just need to weigh up what you prefer, daytime or night-time.

Are curtains not an option?

I'm willing to sacrifice some nighttime PQ to get decent daytime PQ. Currently I'd say PQ is 9/10 at night & 2/10 daytime. If this changes to 8/10 night & 7/10 daytime then it'll be worth it.

Curtains are not an option.
