LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

Rather than see if it would disappear by starting your movie again
Oh, I probably did a min or two before reverting to the wipe pattern, enough time to gauge the IR wasn't going away on its own in a reasonable period of time. After all thats why Samsung includes the wipe pattern in the Screen Burn Protection menu, to speed up the process.

I hope you will understand a couple of things:

- you have lost all credibility with me
- I consider you somewhat disingenuous for using this bizarre episode of yours to try and convince others to purchase LCD and not plasma
- and that I will call you Sheldon from now on as you remind me of him (Big Bang Theory anyone :))
And a merry festive season to you too.

Indeed. Probably, wobbly, and I thought you were Mr. Precise? After all, you keep on going on in these threads about exact perceptions. And now you say, after being called out in it, that you "probably did a min or two"? And then somehow try to make out that because something is made available as a corrective option, it is the default experience? It's like saying because airliners have air masks they are always going to depressurize at high altitude...

Sorry Sheldon, but you dig a deeper hole ;)

Maybe not as deep as the one you preach from ;)

Yeah, and a cheap (sub 6k) LG doesn't suffer from flicker or require batteries and expensive glasses.

Yes but the picture quality of the 3D on passive sets is terrible and pixelated compared to true Full HD 3D on active sets. With higher end active sets flicker is barely noticeable even if you are ocd.

Are you trying to dismiss an entire post based on a spelling error? Lol. I've seen a few of your posts and you are a not an average troll. Somewhat less is what you are :)

Ah. Let me see if I have this straight. After you left your plasma on pause for 15 minutes, you came back and noticed some image retention. Rather than see if it would disappear by starting your movie again, you went into a wipe pattern for 10 minutes rather than let the movie play for a minute or so. Because it was "far too distracting" in the "letterbox" area..... ::)

Did you have any credibility to begin with?

Even when turning the head at an angle or lying on side? Interesting.

spunkyw@nkyy1 is believing his own BS he posts it seems. All I noticed in this thread are you trolling Roman not unlike another Postman.

PS: :erm: I deleted your assuming troll PM without opening it. So do not waste your time. ;)

Lol. The ignorant mob gathers. I love it :). Ok chaps, why don't you try addressing the logic and facts presented rather than doing the "I dismiss you coz me a children and me opinion rules waaaah" thing :)

For the skeptics, ran the whole scenario again.

My E550 connected to HDPVR left on a closed DSTV channel with HDMI input set to Screen Fit (obviously with Pixel Shift disabled) ...

IR1.jpg

After 15 min switching to a pure black .jpg background, the IR is noticeable ...

IR2.jpg

Leave it for another 10 min on black .jpg, no change, as would be with the black letterbox bars on a Bluray ...

IR3.jpg

Only after a solid 10 min + on the Samsung wipe pattern did the IR fade away. I checked at about 5 min and the IR was only partially gone.

So unless my TV is a complete dud (which I doubt) IR can be quite easily induced under certain conditions. I'm not saying people must run away from plasmas, they have their merits, but rather take cognisense of it when evaluating them for purposes where IR can be an issue.

Ok, so after being challenged you offer results from your "maybe dud" tv. Under "certain conditions". Dude, I don't want to haunt you, but you are being biased.

You strike me as being OCD?

Hang on Sheldon - in any of the above scenarios did you start watching a moving picture? Or simply create a self-serving test scenario?

I did alter the conditions for illustration purposes. Its not possible to show IR on the black letterbox part of a playing Bluray as my iPhone's camera is overwhelmed by the brightness of the movie image between black bars. Nonethless the point remains the same ...

WHAT LOGIC AND FACTS DID YOU PRESENT? Absolutely f'all.

Thanks for the pictures Roman. It's very revealing. You are not the first one stating the facts. I think I read that Dolby also had the same experience.

And I'm not on a mission to change your mind ;)

I also can't see flickering on my es6200. Is there a specific scenario I can emulate to make it more visible. Only have a few 3D movies currently.

Seems to be an artificial result in artificial circumstances. If you cant observe it in "real" conditions then what on earth are you debating. I think you are one of those people who notice minute details that the majority are oblivious to. Which therefore means offering selection advice based on minutiae that you obsess about is highly misleading.

His cellphone camera won't show the difference in real conditions. He already mentioned this.
