60Hz (FPS) is smooth as butter.

A 5 Series is the same refresh rate as your Sony (50/60Hz).

But it's not all to do with Hz, there are other factors too.

You'll be just fine.
 
Can anybody explain the lack of Sony TV's in the local market? I browsed a few local sites and I noticed that any of the Mass Stores aren't keeping any Sony TV's. Takealot has 2 models that seem like old stock but then even good old Hifi Corp doesn't have any Sony TV's. Is this a sign of Sony pulling out of the LED TV market?

sony distribution and sales or even after sales is very limited in SA even discontinued VAIO computer ranges..

So, FNB has a deal on the Samsung UA60H6400. Is this a good TV? Also, is it a good deal?

Think like Sony phones in this country, Sony will struggle because of their after sales service, as well as high prices for not very good hardware etc. We found that out with Panasonic and also Sharp, and that once other manufacturers became aggressive with pricing and features, they tended not to follow suit.

I like Panasonic though, the panasonic Viera was/is very good imo

Not to be funny or sarcastic, this is a serious question, but please explain why the 55" is a better deal (the other one is a 60" with Blu Ray player)?
The difference in price? Also, are the normal FNB deals not with 0% interest?
It's actually the 2nd deal in your post that prompted me to go and have a look at the FNB offers.
Any other factors in what makes your proposal a better deal, that I am missing?

The funny model numbers (xxx03) are usually diluted versions of the usual model numbers (xxx00). Very likely assembled in SA.

Not necessarily a bad thing. In the past, the diluted models have usually lacked features which the non-diluted ones have. Panel quality/internals might be lesser too.

Always best to start with a budget. What's yours?
 
Well, I can afford both, if I take them via the FNB deal, on monthly payment (0% interest means I'd consider this- I know a lot of people won't consider buying on credit)

Looks like nice deals, but stupid question here. I can't find these deals on FNB, so can someone perhaps guide me on where I can find it.

I am looking at the 55" for R499pm

H6203 55" (these two don't show up on the website but we have a flyer in the mail that says they have it on 24 months)
UA60H6400 60" (on the fnb site + blu-ray player)

If you can afford the UA60H6400, then go for that one. It's not a diluted version. You can Google it and find information and reviews.

Googling UA40H5303 or UA55H6203 results in nonsense. Hard to make a call without good info, which reinforces the H6400 if you can afford it as it's the best.
