That's a good choice IMO, I'm happy with ours. The image quality is great and it fits the budget :D

Why not plasma? 51" FHD 3D for that price. And under those non bright conditions, it'll smoke similarly priced LCDs at picture quality.
 
Why no 55" PDP from Samsung - or have I just been blind?

Where can I get hold of the Panasonic VT50 for veiwing test?

Currently have the LG Scarlet42" and going to 51" Sammy is only a small step up. SO looking for 55" PDP.
 
Thanks for the response. They are looking for an LCD, I don't know enough about plasma's to recommend it to them. Why should they choose the plasma over lcd?

I should add that they mainly watch series/movies from a media player and the odd episode of 7de laan and isidingo on TV. No sport at all.
 
Plasma has better contrasts and 'in between' shades generally but needs a dimmer room generally.
 
fyi got a UA46EH6030 for R7900 last week from Hircshs. R1100 less than Makro.
 
51e550 is a great price. FHD 3D with a 2 year warranty. Uses the same engine as the 60E550. You might even find a dealer to give you extra glasses and 3 movies they had on promo not so long ago.

Best bang for buck IMO.

Oh, plasma knocks the cr@p out of any LED in that price range.
 
Very happy with my 51e550 after previously owning a d550. My in laws who bought a 47" LG LED recently watched a movie at my place and afterwards the regret of not getting the plasma was obvious.

Hi guys
What's the best deal in cpt for a FULL HD 32" inch LCD/LED display around the R4k-R4.5k price price bracket? Should i even bother with sansui/telefunken/hisense etc? Also, is there a major difference between sony/samsung's Xreality/Hyperreal engines and the conventional sansui/hisense/sinotech tv's?
Really appreciate your help :)

UA32EH5000 LCD is 50Hz (100CMR). I haven't seen anything higher than the standard 50Hz at 32", maybe the UA32ES6200 LCD is out there. There was a UA32D6000 LCD with 100Hz.

I know you said that before but I have given up now. I just cannot get used to pic on the LED. have searched and tried a host of different settings from guys on avforums etc but just cant get used to it.

maybe there isnt actually anything wrong with it and its just me but i just cannot enjoy watching anything on it at the moment. i end up concentrating so much on the picture that i actually end up not really watching whats on.
 
Are the current generation of plasmas still only suited for very low light environments? How do they handle reflection compared to some of the non-plasma screens currently on the market? For example, compared to the xxES6200 range?
 
depends on the range i would guess. series 8 may be a lot better than series 5. i dont really have a reflection issue on my 6 series plasma from 3 years ago but last years d550 was pretty bad according to many on here. i think this years one is a lot better.
