LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

I also have the 46ES6200 like Awesum, and I am very impressed overall. Just still waiting for Plex to be available for these newer models..

I actually returned the es6030 and got the 6200,
It's a much better TV and for the price I paid it was well worth it.

Here's a list of specifications for the different models:

I have the 40" ES6200 and am very happy with it. Really enjoy playing Xbox on it and also use it for streaming movies and series from my PC which works quite well over wifi or lan.

@vir149 , thanks a lot , where did you get those comparisons from ? oh and do you need to buy a wifi dongle for the 6200 ? or does it have built in wifi ? :D

No prob Wong. I got it off the 2012 Samsung TV /AV catalogue, I can email it to you if you want. It has built in wifi or rather Wireless LAN so no need for the dongle :)

@Haldex yes you can only get that price if you buy it online :D , mmm im going to spend the extra dosh and get the 40ES6200 picking it up tommorrow :D!

Anyone using the optical output from an xxES6200 LED into a surround receiver? I'm wondering if you connect a device via HDMI to the TV and then run optical from the TV to a receiver, do you get surround sound? I called a Samsung shop and they salesman seemed to think this is the case but getting some independent opinions :)

i think its called ARC
audio return channel

should work if your devices support it

Thanks. I think ARC is about sending audio back over the incoming HDMI cable. The optical out is more of a standard TV audio output except it's digital instead of analogue (i.e. instead of RCA or other cable that doesn't carry more than two channels). I'm just wondering whether the TV correctly splits the audio from the HDMI input and sends it over the optical.

ah yes you right my bad

Hi guys,

I need a cheapie TV. Mainly for watching series etc through a VGA cable.
Will the Telefunken 37 Inch Led FHD for R3000 be a silly purchase? Really i'm not bothered by any fancy features.
I just need a tv to watch off cause i'm just tired of viewing off my 15 inch laptop screen :P

Any advice ? Should I rather go for the 32 inch Samsung Led on special at Game? I'd like to make the purchase this weekend :)

That's not a bad TV, at the price you can't go wrong IMO. It has been a tiny bit cheaper recently, but that's not a bad price.

I'm in the queue at the HiFi Corp opening at menlyn and need some quick advice. Sammy 43e450 for R3899 or 40" EH6030 with 3D bluray player for R4999?
