Apparently it depends on the content being broadcast.... they do both 720p and 1080i..

Having checked prices on TV sets I am of the opinion that as Catsdigital is only 3km from me the Samsung C450 Plasma at R7499.00 could be a very good buy.I currently own a B430 Plasma which is 10 months old and have had no problems with the set yet.I am thinking of installing a new Baby HD decoder for my own use as my wife hogs the TV set at night. In some ways I wish I could purchase a decent full HD LCD set for the same price with the same picture quality. Please note that I currently have an SD decoder with a connection to where I will install the TV set.So possibly a new dish plus wiring(not a big job) is a thought then at least I can watch what I want to.If there are any comments I would welcome suggestions,

Why pay R7499 when you can get it for R6838?

Samsung 42-inch C450 HD Ready Plasma
CatsDigital: R7499.00
WarpShop: R6838.86
GWP: R7523

I'm looking for 2 fully specced 32" TVs.
Preferably 100Hz+. Full HD (even if means nothing on a 32".
USB and if I can push it WiFi and LED.

Under 12k for both??? Possible?

Samsung 32-inch B550 - R6040.86 x 2 = R12081.72

Don't take the WarpShop prices on the website at face value.

Asked for a written quote for the Samsung 32" C530 and the price quoted was R5744.32 incl, while the website listed it as R5128.86 incl. The reply was that the prices on the website are being 'updated'

Bummer...

Samsung 50-inch C550 FDH Plasma
CatsDigital: R14999
Warpshop: R15047 (rounded)
buy1: R15047

"Displays smaller than 50” generally do not benefit from the higher horizontal resolution
that 1080i offers at normal viewing distances.
The progressive scanning characteristic of 720p has a significant advantage over
interlaced for fast moving content like sport i.e. smoothness of fast motion.
Progressive scanning with 1080 horizontal lines (1080p) is currently not available
as a DVB broadcasting standard".

This detail was from DSTV

That means I can get the C550 for R12309 :D

Actually no, they beat the difference between shop x and Game by 10%. So if Game sells it for R1000 and shop x sells it for R900, Game will sell it for the difference minus 10 %, meaning R890

Bloody hell!
I bought the B450 2 months ago for R600 more, and that was after a discount. :(

The laptop I bought 2 months ago is also R500 cheaper and upgraded.

Got the samsung HD ready plasma 42C450 from Tafelberg Belville for R7499, Samsung HD ready LCD for R3799 and the picked up the sony dvd recorder RDR HX780 for R2699.

i cant come to a decision. is plasma better? the internet really does not help with this matter!

The age old debate, its like asking if teh ps3 is better than the xbox. i think there is a thread on mybb about it.

In (extremely) short.

Plasma is awesome. Just not for static images. ie, PC. Some will debate on black levels, etc, and yes there are brilliant LCD's out there, but equally brilliant Plasma's. I have both, but love my Plasma more and more.

Plasma uses more power than lcd but is better for normal tv viewing from my experience.
