LCD and Plasma Bargains

It's just too big... Even 42inch very big according to the wife but she can live with that whereas the 50+inches will just ruin her decor completely... ;) But I must say, even for me... I just think its way too big for our living room...

So I guess you haven't explained to her that the viewing distance for a full FHD experience at 50" is 2m... :p

Who's going to be using the TV?

I've had a similar dilemma. After having my 42" plasma for a few months, I was sad I never went 50"...
 
Livingroom is 3m accross so technically i guess it could work but still too huge for her. Its only me and her. Just for DSTV and discs/movies. No gaming at this stage. Thing is i find something lacking in every model i come accross. The samsung d550 doesn't have SmartTV /internet. The Panasonic VT20 has no 3D.... So annoying... Damn these led's for getting all the best added gadgets...
 
Women... they are always about aesthetics ;) Showed my friend how my silver seagate freeagent go plugs into her new tv. Suggested she get one. She was most concerned that it be black. That was the most important thing :p

initially my cousin wanted a 32inch
i convinced him to get a 40inch rather, after much persuasion he gave in
same story as you - lounge too small etc etc
when we actually went in to go buy it I convinced him to take the 51 inch plasma (with some help from the salesman that gave a nice discount)

it was only big for 2 days - after that he got used to it and said he was glad i convinced him to take the bigger set

so i would say take the bigger one and if u still think its too big after like 7 days (14 days with makro) you can take it back and get the smaller one

Its was Game who had it for that price about 2 weeks ago and a free samsung dvd player, same tv i purchased, and SIZE does matter.

Seems like a good deal with the added extras thrown in, but you not going to get an immersive experience in 3d with a 40 inch screen, i suggest if you really want 3d you rather check out the Samsung Plasma Ps51d550 with 3d for 10k or a Ps51d490 at 8k (Hd ready) and save up later and get a blue ray player. Trust me a bigger screen is always better - and nobody has ever complained that they bought a screen thats too big, they always complain when its small.

Why don't people look at projectors for large screen entertainment? I have a 42" for general use and a projector projecting at 120" for movie nights.
The Acer H5360 is R6k odd at WebAntics and has a brilliant picture.

Now that's a good all round LCD... Pity Samsung scrapped CCFL LCD higher than 5 Series and forced LED LCD on us for anything non plasma higher than 5 Series.
