LCD and Plasma Bargains

if anybody is tired of their LED or LCD just pm. dont fret, ill come collect. from 40" up. thanx. :D

Given your conditions and intended usage, plasma is a no brainer. It will blow LCD out the water under dim conditions at any task. But most people will never say this, because they test TVs at mass mart stores instead of pro AV shops where they can replicate home viewing conditions. Since LED-backlit LCD is the brightest, and along with the marketing gimmick, people froth at the mouth because under those incorrect bright conditions, it looks best. Huge fallacy.

Further, your viewing distance means it's unlikely you'll benefit from FHD (1080p).

Also 99% of console games are 720p.

If lighting/sunlight on the screen isn't a concern, since the need for FHD is less due to viewing distance as explained, Sammy PS51D450/490 HD Ready/3D or PS51D550 FHD 3D plasma is IMO the way to go.

DSTV, DVDs, movies (and gameing, to a lesser extent) suits plasma, especially at the entry level, and especially under dimmer viewing conditions.

TV Room has dark curtain + blinds, Lighting/Sunlight not an issue

Burn in isn't an issue unless you e.g. use it as a PC monitor.

Plasma will have higher contrast ratio due to its deeper blacks. Ignore advertised dynamic contrast.

Depends what you're needing it for and your room's lighting during viewing times.

That TV, compared to entry LCDs, favours SD content including TV/DVD/avi/divx/etc., and sport. It's excellent for HD stuff too if you have 2m+ viewing distance, don't let the HD Ready resolution fool you, at far viewing distances Full HD is marketing gimmick. 3D performance is average.

The only problem is reflectivity, so you wouldn't want sunlight or bright light falling in the path of the screen. Perfect for dimmer rooms, rooms with curtains during bright times of the day, etc.
 
So...i bought the PS43D490 and I must say I am very happy with the set. PQ is very good on SD and HD. Beats my Sony 40ex600 on most features. Would def recommend seeing as it is a entry level plasma with great performance @ a great price!
