Okay. Even that is a negligible difference though.

Few Rands more for better picture quality, SD, SD TV, sport, gaming, etc.

That is probably the absolute last thing that will play a role in me choosing a tv :) (power consumption that is)

Indeed.

But it's not like plasma will make your bill sky-rocket. A few watts would equate to a few Rands.

Let's also not forget that out of the screens I compared, the plasma is 4" bigger. That's a huge difference in size.

You get 10% of the difference in price as discount - so about R50.

Yes, a flyer will do.

Gogogogo!

Perhaps phone and reserve first.

The prize beat at game can sometime save u a lot. But I feel sometimes its not worth it and I'd rather give my money to d store that has the product on special first.

E.g. if I see a tv for R7000 at cats digital and at game the same set costs R10 000. Why buy at game only to save a further R30 from a difference of R3000.

I feel sometimes we need to give credit to the guy who has the product on special sometimes.

Edit: my math sucks, the difference is R300 but still. Lol.
I guess it doesnt work for small difference e.g R7000 vs R7500 where ul only save R50

Agreed in principle. Sometimes the price difference is justified though. Perhaps ask the shop with the special to match Game's discounted price? Lol.

Shows how Massmart are a bit "immoral". Stealing sales from the small guys. :p

Agreed, I'd rather support the store with the actual special. In this case though, I was already at Canal Walk, I didn't feel like driving out to HiFi Corp. Also trust Game a lot more in terms of after-sales service and all that. If it was Tafelberg Furnishers or Audiovision or something, then I'd have rather gone there . Audiovision was selling this baby for R11k, I was very close to telling the salesman that they're clearly insane :P

My brother has the LG, i have the Samsung, mine worked 2 months, and have been and the service centre now for a month (still waiting), my brothers LG is going 2 years now, without a day’s problems, I am really disappointed at the service level of Samsung service centre, how long can you wait for parts…
Although my brothers LG is an older edition, and also just HD ready, I have to say I am really impressed with the image quality, it’s really not as bad as everyone is going on about in this forum, it also looks like a better build plasma than the Samsung, even the remote look much better, so if anyone would consider a LG, don’t be put off by anyone on this forum, if I could choose over I would have selected the LG

The LGs are quite nice of late. I have seen a few really nice screens.

So you pick a TV based on how good the remote looks?

No one is slating LG's picture quality. People just prefer Samsung because they are the most popular, sell the most, best documented, etc. I have seen plenty of excellent LG plasmas. Oh, apparently Samsung menus are better. Must say, the current Samsung plasmas' housing is fantastic, as well as build quality.

Fact of the matter though is that getting a dud that breaks soon is totally luck of the draw. Really says nothing about the brand. Sure, after-sales service does, but perhaps there is a legitimate reason for it? Often if you simply speak to upper management, you will always get your way.

At the end of the day, LG and Samsung palsmas are both great, equally as good most likely. :)

Samsung's service and quality in PC LCDs is definitely superior to LG's, I guarantee you that.
