Plasma is now seriously end-of-line. It consumes up to 10 times more electricity than LCD/LED thats why it suffers to be pure black - its got too many electrons hanging around its tiny tubes.

Retract that statement PlasmaPot is going to hit a coronary :)

If only they tested black uniformity. :p

Where they trick you is measuring peak black level. And then people wonder about the white spots when they're watching at night, after testing in Game. :D

Oh, hey trolls!

Geez.

That's almost R14,000.00 if I simply save it till I retire! Insane!

Small change bud, the investment made with the R5,000 saving in going PS51D550 over UA46D6000 will be far more, and I'll be getting an overall better experience in the now. :)

Best price differential is a bit less than R3000 currently ... R11995 vs R8999. For this you will get smoother motion processing, greater picture brightness, reduced reflectivity brightness, SmartTV functionality & lower power consumption, although with 5" smaller screen & 3D only in half-res.

Check this, mainly #4.
This is something that mainly affects the high end models due to their min/zero bezel designs. Think it has to do with insufficient tension on the light distribution panel/prism, which shifts from perfectly straight during shipping.

From what I've seen mid range models with conventional housings (e.g. Sam D6000, LG LW & Sony EX) are rarely affected, I'd say my C530 CCFL's light distribution is slightly less consistent than my D6000.

And don't think high end Plasma's aren't without their quirks e.g. floating blacks/brightness on the VT/GT/ST Panasonics. The perfect TV technology has yet to be demonstrated, we'll have to wait & see how OLED pans out over time?

What is that SA website that list all the brochure specials again(not just tv's)? I just cant think of it.

My friend got an LG LCD and wanted me to grab the firmware update for her. On the LG site they have firmware and software...what the hell is the software for?

I saw that GAME is advertsing a 40 inch Samsung LED screen for R4 999 - does anyone know what the model nr is?

UA40D5003. 1 x HDMI, no USB [HD] media player. Barebone model. Avoid if possible.

The ad says 3 x HDMI

EDIT: My bad, that's going for R5999.
EDIT 2: The R4999 one has one USB (according to the ad)
