Leaf Locate

AND - for the P3300. Was told by someone at Leaf that it should be out in two weeks - three weeks ago!!!

Hi Guys

It was out 3 weeks ago :)

You can get the software online from the HTC Web Site http://www.htc.com/support/support.htm

You need to register on the support site and grab the download from there.
The 3300 and TyTN WWE roms are on there.

If you register on our site http://www.leaf.co.za we will send you information regarding roms and upgrades when available.

You are also more than welcome to come into our Fourways shop if you're in the area and we'll load it for you. Remember to backup your data!

Cheers,
Greg

Hello

This is also being investigated! And is on my list! I'm doing some R&D on using cellular tower positions to give an approximate location! Can't tell you when it'll be ready tho!

SupaSpud, why not talk to the likes of Vodacom who already did all the work on triangulation for their FindMe product (or whatever they call it these days) more than 3 years ago. You should be able to leverage off the work they've already done. Don't know if you need a contact, but if you do I might be able to get you in touch with the guy that was launching the project back then.

Thanks for the suggestion but we've already thought about going that route. Except vodacom will charge for such a service. i'm looking at triangulating phone side.

Very nice app. Congrats to Leaf.

Is it possible to save your place marks to a file so that it can be loaded again after a device refresh.

I've not been able to use the app a lot myself yet (I've still got an iMate) but I've been testing it on my wife's S710 (which has been in for repairs more than out) so I can't remember if this feature is available or not.

Navigon software CAB

Hi SupaSpud

Little OT...

I have installed WM6 on my P3300 and now I have to run Navigon from File explorer as it is no longer seen as being "installed". Is it possible to obtain the latest CAB from Leaf so I can install it again. Also, is it possible to get updated maps when they become available?

Thanks

Re: Saving locations. This is a good idea. I'll add it to the list of additions to the next release.

Re: Navigon. Try inistalling the app and reinstalling again. The cab file is on the SD in the 2577 directory. Have you tried this?

Greg

@ SupaSpud!

I have a Tytn2, it has built in GPS but no maps, Leaf wants R800 for the Tytn2 maps but Leaf Locate is free.

The problem apparently is that Leaf Locate does not talk the the GPS module in the Tytn2.

Is this true?
Coz I find it to be VERY stupid!

This issue has been addressed by SupaSpud earlier in this thread.

Thanks. Yip, we're doing our best to take leaf locate as far as we can without adding cost. At some stage we'll differentiate the free version from a subscription version and you'll see some advanced features appearing.

Cheers.

Can I use maps from the P3300? I think theres one lying around somewhere.

For Leaf Locate? No. Leaf Locate grabs its maps from our server. Which will always be up to date.

No man the maps that come on the P3300 you know on the memory card....
Ill try it see what happens:p

It's your lucky day. Next version has that capability. Not mms tho. SMS and email.

Will it give auto find location in the maps?

Um... i'm a little confused as to what you're trying to achieve.

Lol

Ok P3300 comes with Built in GPS and Maps(Not Leaf Locate).
Its stored on a Memory card.

If I stick that card into the Tytn and load the maps on the Tytn will it work?
I think its the same maps Leaf wants me to pay R800 for.

Is it possible (as with the free Nokia maps app) to download the full map data on your PC and transfer to your mobile device to avoid always having to download map data as and when needed?

:) once again i'm not sure what you mean here :) maybe its just too early in the morning for me...

I see. Unfortunately the Navigon application that comes free with the p3300 is only licenced to that device. The licence code will not work for the TyTN.
