I don't have a license yet, although I'm 24 :p

I can drive okay'ish in certain cars, but I'm sure I'll have enough time to learn properly.

Do any of you know of a website where I can learn all the required information for the learners license test?

I've got a cd here with a small program which I'm going to use and there is a K53 book here somewhere, but I dislike the K53, it's irritating, not very explanatory and I studied out of it early last year and failed the first learners test I wrote.

I'd appreciate any help and especially the resources I need.

Thanks a lot ;)

For learners licence I recommend the yellow "Pass Your Learners Easy" book. Otherwise I'm sure you could download the learners tests somewhere (although I'd prefer to have "legit" learners drivers on our roads ;)).

For K53, I recommend going for driving lessons.

Hope i am not hijacking, but also on the same topic of learner licenses.
How does 1 go about getting a booking to write the test?
Has any 1 heard of an emergency booking and a booking that can be done by e-mail, heard it form a friend who made abooking through e-mail @ the centurion testing center?

Ek wil net vir jou sterkte toewens - en sal aan jou dink :)
Dankie oom, waardeer dit ;)

I'll go for driving lessons, but that's only if I pass the learners test. Isn't there any sites with step by steps on the tests?

That book is the best for learners as far as I know. If you can't pass with it, then ask a knowledgeable person who drives to go through the quizzes at the end of the book with you ( hope they're still there , just realized I wrote my learners 11 years ago  )

Thanks EHV, appreciate it.

Thanks to PPot and Kosmik too, it seems I found a similar book (it's actually pass easy and another book in one book) for R50 at Loot.co.za

I'll check it out ;)

Good Luck with passing the Learners!
This 1 is actually for my sister, Waltloo isn't much help and the call center even worse.
Tried 1 recommended driving school and the guy abandoned my sister after taking the R300 bucks just for a LL apointment@ Centurion - end result i had to take her and missed the time for the test, because i never even knew a Centurion testing existed and backed up traffic @ Irene, DS guy didn't even answer his phone!!
I got mine ages ago Learners=04/05 and Drivers=2006/02/02, will remember that day forever.
It is worth it to do your DL @ any other place except in GP:Waltloo
Did mine in Knysna Tazz 1300 with a Extremely heavy double axle trailer , even the Traffic/Testing Officer that was testing couldn't believe that it was so heavy and that it meets requirements, Knysna people are cool/chilled people.
Just watch out for the small streets and uphill i smoked the tazz's clutch almost while doing the license, luckilly it wasn't mine.LOL
Passed DL and LL 1 time

I also got my drivers licence quite late in life (forever to get a booking, too busy to hang around traffic department, etc., etc.) and if there one thing I can tell you to assist you in any way, is that K53 is just a test. Its.just.a.test. So you have to treat it like that and *know* its not the way you REALLY going to drive :)

It always got to me that K53 was never the way I or everyone I knew really drived.

Thanks nic777

I forgot about this thread the next day and I meant to start studying this week, but I'll get into it I'm sure.

If any of you have more S.A based resources to share, kindly do so ;)

I have the tests... I used them to pass ;)
But you should know that.

Rofl dude. I've seen these tests and it's really not going to help me to memorize it off heart, I need to learn the stuff to remember it. :p

I CC'd studied it... ask Risa.

Passed in 5 minutes flat ;)

Guy was still explaining to the other ppl how to mark stuff and I was done ;)

Im writing next month...im using "The official K53 Learners and drivers manual" really good book. Ive learnt alot already.cost me R55 @ CNA.try that:)

That's the exact same book I mentioned in the first post which I despise, you have to be a fairly good road user already to learn from it, definitely not for noobs. :p

Funny. Im not a good road user and its pretty straight forward to me...just didnt know what 'Yielding' meant!lol.when are you writing teraside?

I haven't booked a date yet. I feel this time around, I'll get the correct knowledge and then decide on a booking date. The traffic department over here is also filled to the max with bookings, but usually you get a place if you just wait a week or so later. I'm in no hurry, don't even have a car yet.

I'm weighing whether to get a bike or car (I'm leaning towards car though)

Edit: oh yes, I really dislike that book, Yield is one of the things I couldn't get, as well as the physical road markings
