Good morning everyone on this chilly day.

I would like to find out, what would be the courses to study to gain substantial knowledge on setting up my own private networks, learning Linux etc.

I am tired (gatvol) of these browsers asking to save my credit card details, passwords, and I am sure people can easily hack into my PC and what not.

VPNs? Port forwarding, smart home setups. I have some basic knowledge, as I have set up my routers for port forwarding for my home CCTV, alarm system, even set up a Qnap NAS server for my work that I can access anywhere, but how safe they are, is what scares me. I need to know more lol. I have done this by asking questions here, (I am grateful and appreciate the help I have received here), researching the net, and so forth.

I am also big into Crypto, and such likes. I do not want to be hacked!!

I am based in JHB, so what colleges or organisations can help me with this. Are there any online courses, or would it be better to attend classes physically? Sadly I do work a full time job, so this can be tricky.

Any suggestions or help would greatly be appreciated.

It's Friday baby, have a great weekend!!

On Youtube take a look at Network Chuck, Lawrence Systems, Learn Linux TV, Jim's Garage and Christian Lempa who cover a lot of the subjects you mentioned.

If you can, please put those services you mentioned above behind a VPN or use a mesh vpn like Tailscale or Netbird rather than port forwarding. These days, you really don't want to expose anything to the web unless it absoultely has to be a publicly consumed service. Discovery of vulnerable systems is heavily automated by the bad actors and vulnerable systems can be exploited very quickly.

For the passwords, you can use a password manager like KeepassXC or Bitwarden instead of saving them in the browser. Usually these have a browser integration so you don't have to type the passwords. Password Managers let you use unique, strong passwords for each account in a practical way.

Thanks InvisibleJim. Yeah, that is why I want to learn about VPN's and the likes to get an understanding.
