Hello the company i work for is using a proxydns.com "dynamic ip" to host their own email and terminal server. We have 2 adsl routers in bridge with Mikrotik RB750. The account is a 120GB 4Mb capped Afrihost account "Price +-R900", the past few months if the internet turns of the there is a delay with the dns updating to the new ip as a result email and stuff for the guys on the road dont work.
So we need a better solution, and i was thinking leased ip. Can we get a leased ip without having to leave afrihost?
i was thinking can we get a basic capped Mweb business account for the server so it has a leased ip and just leave the rest of the people on the Afrihost account for R900?

Hope this makes sense.

Hi,

Did you try using the update client before you start changing ISP's and stuff,
Hello,

Yes i have tried to change the update client the problem seems to be somewhere else.
When i looked on the website of the update client"Proxynd.com" it showed that the dns record has been updated correctly,
but when i do a tractrt ****.proxydns.com the results show the old dns entry of before the internet was off. Usually ends with "*.mtnbusiness.co.za" and then * * * "Request times out" it usually come right after a day.

no then that is your local PC, the next time this happens, try flushing your DNS, (ipconfig /flushdns)
Then ping the ****.proxydns.com - should resolve to the new IP

I don't how this is affecting the guys on the road, the next time this happens ask 1 of them to telnet the server and if they get a response then it has to be something else,

I have alot of clients with mail server's that use dyndns.org and with no trouble.

Yes i have have tried to flush the dns even before doing the tracert.

Have you seen this latest news from dyndns.org i recieved the email on Monday

Starting today, if you would like to maintain your free DynDNS account, you must log in once a month. Failure to do so will result in expiration and loss of your hostname. This activity helps us eliminate hostnames that are no longer needed and/or dormant.

We understand that the possibility of resulting service interruptions may be frustrating, so we are offering a one-time transition upgrade to VIP status for just $10 USD/year. Under this status, login will not be required and service will remain uninterrupted for an entire year.
