Lekota lambasts Expats

Bageloo: it is sentiment like this that makes Africa a laughing stock in the eyes of the world.

Isn't African logic breathtakingly stupid.

Unlike European politicians who try and put a spin on things, these monkeys actually believe this tripe.
What are you on about ...? you are not making any sense! What monkeys?

Hi Kilo39, I stand by my argument in the context of what the opposition was trying to achieve that day in pariliment with an ill thought out plan that backfired. They got told off and rightly so, not bad for an idiot banana eating monkey, as some would believe eh ;) What does that make Tony then?

As for the rest of your post the only thing that I really need to say is that I wish the opposition was bigger.

Interesting now they are not South Africans anymore and are not allowed to comment on the problems of the country ? But when a celeb *cough* Charlize Theron*cough* won an oscar, we just had to to shout to the rest of the world she is a SOUTH AFRICAN.
Charlize is the one that made reference to her home country during her speech! Unlike some expats I know, she still recognises that SA is her home country! She has done us proud actually. Many expats, once they are a abroad turn around and want to steal the little that we have. Shame on you. Why don't you just rejoice in your new countries and leave us to sort our own problems?

So you did not see the negative advert that she made about men in South Africa and how we love to rape women?

SA is no longer your home either. It belongs to the 5 million or so illegal immigrants and the criminals. Unless you are one of those, it's not your home.
Again you reply like a child!!!!!! Totally irrelevant.

Pray tell "what was the opposition trying to achieve that day in pariliment with an ill thought out plan that backfired." What plan be that exactly?

Seems there is somewhat of a gulf in this country of exactly what is the meaning of a democracy. A democracy means we can all have an opinion. Seems not. A democracy means we take the opinions of the world (and the opposition) into account!

A lot of expats still consider SA their home. Unfortunately that SA is the SA of their dreams, what the country would be without crime and mismanagement.

Bigger opposition? As with everything involving government, the opposition is merely a formality, a product of window-dressing democracy. The ANC has it's majority, can do what it feels like and does, with impunity. Officials wave away protestations, investigations, and anything else that they find inconvenient, addressing issues with rhetoric and denials instead of with positive action.

Inexcusable, and yet, with no accountability there's no need even to try and excuse it.

She has filmed TV commercials for the Cape Town Rape Crisis Center, urging no tolerance for rape or domestic violence. What is negative about that?

Sure,
If Leon had used local (and there are many) sources for his criticism he would not of given Lekota the opportunity to dis him like that. Leon miscalculated.

Just think of the concept here, you are pissing against the wind day in and day out trying to get a reaction out of government about crime.
Finally, and I mean FINALY baas Thabo decides to mention the issue during his rather bland state of the nation address and when the follow up comes you fire a barrage of blanks from people living overseas. I mean WTF!
Why on earth did he just not go local for his ammo? Clyde Rathbone's granny or poodle mean buggerall to us in reality, it is the people here that count, save that other stuff for the tourism folks.

No actually it was totally anti SA men and labelled all SA men as wife beaters and rapists. That's why it was pulled off the air. I don't know about some of the people here but I have never raped or hit a woman.

Don't you think that the expats could have added numbers to strengthen the opposition? By running away they are playing right into the ANC's hands.

That's your opinion. Unfortunately a small group of men complained to the advertising authority and had it banned. I think that given the problem South Africa has with rape, the ad was appropriate. If you don't mistreat women, you shouldn't find it offensive.

I know many South Africans in the UK (black and white and indian) that are there in an attempt to make a life for themselves. It is their right - just as it is their right to remain South African.

Make up your mind. They either have an opinion or they don't. Or is it "some we would rather hear than others." (About par for this government; can't make up their minds and actually have no clue what they really want beside all the power, all the money, all the voice.)

As to opposition. Bah, look how the anc reacted to the DA win in CT. Witness the anti-da comments on this thread and through the forum. But we want opposition. Right. Just as long as it is the right opposition in the right colour and they live in the right country. Pleaze!

@sneeky: whatever. a comment was made, it was met with derision. 'Nuff said.

I was talking about the people that have emigrated from the country. People working abroad are not expats, they are migrant workers. Why would anyone who has voluntarily emigrated because they are fed up with SA, want to remain citizens of this country? Not much has changed since they've been gone. The ANC is still in power. Crime is still high. AA is still a problem. So are they concerned about the country?

Try to be little less small minded.
