Hi all.

After eventually fixing my ol' bricked N73 with its new firmwear,i have the same camera problem!
I even bought an original cover as a gift to my beautiful wife!
This phone is frickin' crazy!Everytime i initiate the camera it switches back to normal screen mode and back again to landscape mode!
It happens randomly but always!
Sometimes it lets me take a photo or a little bit of video then the madness starts all over again!
With or without the memory card inserted,it makes no difference.
Any ideas?
I have seen this same problem on the Nokia forums but they keep telling them to bring it to Nokia.
I dont intend to spend another cent on this candybar phone!I want justice.
:confused:HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPP!:mad::eek::eek:

Is this happening to all N73's or just yours? Is is the music edition?

I understand that you don't want to take it in but it seems like you will have to :(

Mines fine....Can't wait till my 5800XM gets delivered this week though :P

my N73 camera always a problem...
The picture sometime have lines.. When you open the slide it does nothing sometimes,
when using Video call the other camera option pops up... Record... then call get disconnected... I took my phone to them and they replace it..After 2 months same problem...

I losing Confidence in the Nokia Brand....

I feel for u buddy. My N73 takes great pictures when I get it to work. I've been sitting with this irritating problem for 18 months now. It is sometimes embarrising when you want to take a pic & wait 1 minute for the camera to activate properly.

I've taken it into VodaCare, they had my phone 2 weeks & couldn't find a problem. As soon as I got home it started messing around again. I'll rather just wait for my upgrade in September.

I also got a nokia 5800 last week and actually did a camera test with the two phones.
Firstly the N73 has the same camera specs as the 5800 but an alarming thing to note is that the surface area of the n73's camera optic is significantly larger.
A photo taken with standard indoor settings with the 5800 shows quite abit of grain and the colours not as vivid.
The n73 to my surprise took that same photo with no grain and beautifully vivid colours.
At least the 5800 seems to be the same as the n73 outdoors and the video quality of the 5800 [outside] is shockingly good at 30fps![looking almost dvd quality]
Im hoping that next years firmwear update will improve the 5800 camera as i still dont understand why the video is so good and 'close up' compared with the camera.
Otherwise the 5800 is one kick ass mobile!

does nokia 5800xm have carl zeiss optics?? if not, will explain why the n73 got better bicture quality ... btw back in the day, n73 was actually released as a camera specialist phone ...

The Nokia 5800xm also has carl zeiss optics[and duel led flash],however the size of the optic on the 5800xm is smaller, therefore not allowing as much light into the lens.
Because the N73's optic is almost twice in diameter it allows more light into the lens and pictures are far less grainy. The n73's flash led is a single but bigger led.
The bigger optic makes the better camera in low light conditions.
Also note that outdoors, the 2 cameras are almost identical.
It puzzles me that the video camera on the 5800 is so much better then the N73.
I guess it must be the 5800's faster cpu, allowing a better frame rate.
