Oof just read this again. How's that generator going for you with the new petrol price.
In fact is anyone still considering generators with the way the fuel price is going? (and Russia doubling down on invading the Ukraine)

I mean ofc there are situations it makes sense, but home use must cost an arm and a leg

Haha fair enough. Tough from what I've heard, family in Northern Ireland (part of UK, not actually Ireland... it is confusing) had a huge increase in power cost because of Ukraine.

Yeah, I think he's in the Netherlands, probably going to have the same issue.

Sorry but I didn't get the generator in the end. And yes, never had any power issues since leaving SA. The power is always on, unlike there.

I do feel for you guys though. I mean that sincerely. Your government is honestly expending every possible resource to f**k you over in every possible way.

Getting expensive. But what can I say... still not as bad as the rodgering I got from P**skom in Cape Town who didn't read the meter and then slapped me with R20k bill in one month, every 6-12 months because they can't estimate properly and because the meter was faulty.

The law changed in July last year so that also affected prices. So a double-effect.

Comparing apples with pears, its expensive here but not as much as in Cape Town relative to my pay.

And FYI... the 30% ruling, the thing that everyone waxes lyrical about, is in danger of being scrapped. I had a feeling which is why I didn't apply for it.

Not for load shedding, I have a proper Inverter for that, its meant for camping/outdoors.
As for holding up guess it all depends on what you wanna run on it.

What are you going to run on it?
 
Hi, I have 200AH of batteries, a MSW (Modified sine) inverter (+ ampmeter to check load) and a change-over switch from Eskom to Inverter. I am looking for a UPS for my DSTV Explorer to handle the 20sec during my changeover to stop the Explorer re-booting. I have tried 2 models of 230v output UPS's but they don't like the MSW input.
Anyone come across a DC output UPS to supply the 12v 3A (peak on startup) for up to a minute. If I am not at home it will run out of Ah but that's ok as long as the batteries don't get killed.
