The movie sucks. The book is great, the old tv series is better than the movie.

Basically if it's plausible or may actully happen one day, sci-fi. We're already past steampunk era. Unless it's some post apocalyptic world where all electronics gets fried.

If you rewatch the Aliens movies before that it fits in very well. Almost a prequel

wait, let me rephrase that. scifi to you is something that can happen (with some technological advancement), fantasy is something that probably won't (magic) <- this i agree with.
