Let's talk PC gaming peripherals

@Fulcrum29 Thanks. I am considering which will be best for my use case but I think I'm going to end up dual-wielding as well to get the best of both worlds. I already have a K70 with mechanical switches.

If anyone is interested, the Keychron K2 HE is on sale at Amazon, and the white Ace 68 Air is once again listed for purchase at Takealot for R798. You can use the MIDMONTH coupon and get R150 off (R950 minimum spend), although you will have to wait a couple of weeks for it to ship.

I don't know how some sellers are getting the Mchose Ace 68 Air below R1 000. I know that the third-party seller, Adams Home Co, is legit with Mchose products. Since every Mchose product that I have purchased on Takealot was via them and they delivered the true product.

It is worth mentioning that the Mchose Ace 68 Air on Takealot is not the high-end version though I don't think that there is much apart between the two versions. The high-end version is available at Wootware, and it has Mount Tai switches... 128k vs 256k scan, you won't even notice.

This is how the two editions compare.

Editions: Esports | Ultra Esports
Switches: Kailh Magnetic God Switch | Mount Tai Magnetic Switch GT
Accuracy: 0.005mm | 0.001mm
RT Range: 0.005–3.4mm | 0.001–3.4mm
Latency: 0.1ms | 0.08ms
Scan Rate: 128K | 256K
ADC Direct Connection: / | WASD Direct Connection

I doubt that having WASD as dedicated input channels will improve anyone as a gamer. Both keyboards support SOCD, so eh... The big change is the switches, and those Mount Tai switches are sweet.

The Keychron K2 HE is a good keyboard. ~R2 300 on Amazon, not bad at all and it is the special edition though not in the product name (the colour schemes dictate it to be the special edition). I kinda envy that price, lol. When I bought my new keyboard it was a hard pick, but I am happy with my Ace 68 GT. IIRC, the K2 (non-special edition) and GT were the same price at the time.

Would have loved a K2 HE in black/wood, but reviews slated it to lean more towards productivity than gaming, so I went Mchose. For R2 300, it is more convincing.

Yeah, it looks good, but I don't know whether it is better than ATK's EGDE 60/63. Both Mchose and ATK are getting a tid more expensive.

These keyboards compete directly against the Wooting 60HE v2, NuPhy Air60. On the cheaper end, MonsGeek FUN60 and Royal Kludge RK61. All these keyboards are reviewed by people like Hipyo Tech. I hardly see mainstream keyboard reviewers doing Mchose and ATK. When it comes to gaming, ATK is extremly good.

Mchose have been around, but their real name is Maicong (not their registered name). There are so many Chinese brands now, some under the same canopy, some more involved with known brands than some would think. 'Cloning' is a good game to play, and when you can do it at level or better then why not? The question is, though, whose designs are it anyway?

A certain brand has a popular mouse disappear, and speculation is that their license lapsed. Regardless, companies like Razer and Logitech have big R&D departments, and patent workshops. China and India have so many OEM, ODM, etc. industries. Not to ignore Vietnam, Malaysia, etc.

All I care about is choice, and recently we have quality at a lower price. That is generally good value. The more reputable these brands will become, the more the price will increase. This is ignoring the climate that the globe is in.

I would love to have that God 60 though. It isn't cheap.

Monitor prices keep coming down. Sheesh.

Every time yiu look there's something equivalent or better than you got a year ago.

The new 8BitDo Ultimate 3E looks good,

There are more Ultimate 3 models. Still though, I don't think it is better than a GamerSir G7 or FlyDigi Vader 5 series. I won't know. I have 2 8BitDo Ultimate 2 controllers and my GameSir Nova 2 Lite have made me put them back into their boxes. Maybe the Ultimate 3 can revive the series.

IQUNIX is now a long established brand, more known in Asia, but it has been an esports staple. IQUNIX vs MCHOSE, I am not sure who is copying who?

No, it is not direct copies, and not even the same layouts, but the styles are remarkably close. I won't say that IQUNIX pioneered these designs, but it does seem popular. Also, IQUNIX is quite a bit more expensive than MCHOSE.

I would love to have an IQUNIX EZ80/EZ75, but that is close to $300...
