LG G3

I was also due on the 24th of April, holding off. I'm hoping for end of June, but a "source" at Vodacom said perhaps only end of July.

The black looks sweet!

Apparently this is the G3 in the wild with the "Quick Cover". Look at the size of the thing!

I will most definitely be holding off on my upgrade for this. Let's hope LG SA have their ducks in a row so we can see this soon.

Not sure if reported here yet, but official unveiling is the 27th of May...but yeah, even Europe took 8 weeks after the unveiling before they received the G2 last year.

What annoys me is that these phone manufacturers are always making the phones bigger and bigger. I mean what's wrong with a 5" screen? Does making it bigger make it better? The gap between the 'normal' phones, like the upcoming G3, S5, etc are getting closer and closer to that of the Note and phablet phones. A 5" screen is big, but a pretty good size, why is there a need to increase the size on every model as opposed to the previous model?

And no, I don't want a lesser powered 'mini' version of any of them

*rant off*

With my Note 2, I realised that a 5.5" phone is just not for me... well, maybe if I am only using it as a mini tablet at home.

Saying that, I still love my Note 2! *sniff*

*The Samsung Galaxy S4 is the perfect size for a smartphone.

Similar to big penis syndrome I suspect. But yes, I do agree with you.

They always sell the mini versions of these phones.

I think the logic at the moment is to test what the biggest phone they can make is.. before it becomes too big and cumbersome.

There is probably a sweet spot somewhere, they are trying to find it.

Its determinately somewhere between the Note3 and the S5. But there is also personal preference.... I'm enjoying the bigger phones, I have the G2 and was worried it would be too big... but after a few months I was keen for something bigger !

One of the YouTube android channels mentioned rumours of possible next day launch. That would be awesome

I have to be honest, I never considered the G2 when it came out. When I heard about the specs leak a couple of weeks ago I thought, this might be a nice upgrade. Also, I've had Samsung phones forever, so maybe a change will do me a good.

Since then I've changed my mind and would rather hold out for the Note 4. I've listened to a lot of people talk about LG and their phone quality over the last month, just to get a better idea on what the opinion is out there. Seems like LG's software isn't up to standard with the Samsung's and HTC's of the world, so will have to wait and see if this version is any better. They've also been known to be slow with software updates. I think the G2 only got Kitkat recently. Then on the other hand, my left wrist to be exact, I have the Gear 2, which I'll have to forfeit if I want to change phone brands.

Also, this whole 4k display thing, really useless on a mobile imo. For me it's just useless already on a 46" tv which I sit 3 meters away, nevermind a 5.5" screen I'm holding 30cm away. Even the video they shoot at 4k is useless, where can you view it and truly enjoy it? Nowhere. 4k will be useful to me the day I buy a tv as big as my lounge wall. Anything else, meh.
