Did sim swop and issue sorted, scared to put Lte on though :I
Yea as long as it works :)

Wife's g4 (reason I am subscribed to this thread) went in for "repair assessment" at vodacom today.

The rep was quite surprised to see a g4 there, says it's the first g4 return at the shop.

Apparently very solid phones.

Having a strange issue with my touchscreen lately from time to time.

A area near the top of the screen stops working, when I rotate the phone/screen the issue remains but it moves to the new part that is at the top... When I reboot the problem goes away.

any ideas?

I've dropped mine face down on concrete multiple times. That bumper makes it look like the day it came out the box.

Hers has a slight dent on the corner where she dropped it 1 week into owning it. The plastic backing is apparently slippery. She has used the leather one since then.

sounds like what I had. its the screen that is dying it will sadly get worse over the next week and then a section of your screen will go wonky. get ready to drive to MTN allendale to take it there (if you are on MTN at least)

Can you remember what they had to do to fix yours? How long did it take?

Seems to be getting worse. I was hoping this could be a software issue. I still need to try a factory reset.

from what you are talking about it sounds like exactly what was happeing to mine.

I took mine to MTN Allendale directly because it is their repair shop. took it in Thursday morning. picked it up the Sunday morning.

yours sounds like it is the other way around than mine but the same root issue.

with mine the display went funny but the touch worked but the same things seem to be failing

Wife's phone died today.

Turns on, shows LG logo, turns off till you take the battery out then same issue again. Any suggestions or is it time to get vodacom involved?

A colleague of mine had the same problem. Did a bit of research and apparently All LG G4 models with serial number starting with 505-508 are susceptible to motherboard problems due to some loose connection messing up with it.
Other LG g4 owners had to start a petition for LG to acknowledge this problem .

Take it to LG/vodacom, with a proof of purchase. They should replace the motherboard (which costs about R3500)
It's already in Vodacom's clutches. I'll wait till they give it back fixed or not before doing anything else, I will however call the repair place daily for updates and mention 508 each time.

Is that a fact or speculation, they typically don't warranty phones even with known potential issues unless the phone already is displaying signs the failure is imminent or happening?

Guys at vodacom (my phone auto corrected that to voidable) repair certified that if that is the case with my wife's phone it will be repaired as factory fault. Said they have done it worth a few g4's already.

But they will only book the phone in/do the repair once the phone starts displaying symptoms of the factory fault, you can't just waltz in and tell them your phone is fine but the serial is within the range of affected phones please swop the motherboard?
