Did you only take the phone or accessories too?
Only the phone with the proof of purchase, which was my mtn contract. They ask you to explain what happens. I just said it went into boot loop and heats up then. They book it in and whilst booking in you receive a mail confirming the work order.

Thanks. Was at MTN this morning to book it in and they didn't want to to accept it because I didn't have my charger with me.
 
geeez, I wish there was a stress test one could put the phone through to ensure it's OK or let it fail

Nah **** them thats why I did not even try to take it to them. Wtf does the charger even have to do with the bootloop?

If they take the complete unit and exchange it for a new one then yes, I would say ask for the charger.
 
Just to add, I see there is a SMARTlab in Johannesburg also for the guys up there.

Just phoned the Cape Town branch now. They don't have any parts in stock and they can't say when they will receive parts.

I see a huge problem coming.
 
whew. but my understanding is that bootloopers will receive a replacement if still under warrantee .

No, they just fixed my wife's and gave it back to her.

I photographed and marked the back of the phone with a permanent marker and her initials before handing it in.
I know someone else here got a different 2n'd hand phone as replacement.

I thinkk if very new or in the beginning they will replace but hers was about a year when it started the bootloop.

Ironically, after getting it back her battery life and phone responsiveness have improved drastically.

Sorry, it's 504-508 that have the issue.

I took my G4 in to SmartLab this morning. Got home and check my email to see if they emailed me a job card.

Yes, got it. But why on earth willing they give me a 3/5 for phone condition if my phone is in excellent condition? Not a single scratch except for a few very tiny ones on the screen protector?

Mine also says 3/5. I dont think its something to worry about.

Perhaps they found traces of fecal matter, mucus, saliva and blood on the phone at the labs...

5/5 is probably still in box and 4/5 is just out of box day old etc.

3/5 probably just means the phone is not dammaged but has been used for a while
 
Just been informed that the phone is ready for collection. So that's 48hours...
