LG G4

Has anyone had warranty refused by LG due to alleged water damage?
Man I'll be miffed if my phoned is now a worthless paperweight, had the phone since new and really babied it, virtually doesn't have a scratch.

In the T-mobile pic they are only worried about the sticker we don't have in our phones, in their pic you can actually see the dot that's still white above the indicator sticker in the battery compartment that's gone red:

I would put up a fight if I was you!

Who are they to say the present failure was caused by water damage, considering the 1000's of G4's that have had bootloop with identical symptoms? farkim!

Is the dot actually red or pink, or are you getting yourself into a state for no reason?
Well its some shade between pink and red, I think with indicator stickers the fact that they aren't white is all that's needed for them to repudiate a claim.

maybe a drop of Jik bleach will do the trick? ;-)

Okay, people say that the pink shade can also be caused by heat. Tell them your phone was bootlooping for a while before you noticed and got extremely hot.

No bleach. Technicians are not stupid. Rather tell a white lie and look them in the eye and stick to your story.

Saw bleach mentioned whilst googling indicator stickers, its going to be a really finicky job if it works at all and no doubt it'll end up being one of those classic "tried to fix the sticker but destroyed my phone in the process" stories.

If the guy that helped me was anything to go by the technicians are going to be a nightmare, the guy kept on re-iterating that repairs can take up to 21 working days, like faq me I know that's in the terms and conditions of every service centres book-in form but why make the customer panic if the worst case scenario almost never happens.

My Samsung Note 3 needed a new screen and motherboard, 3 days later all sorted, that was at Vodacom. Using less popular brands does make me a little queasy, I've been considering Xiaomi P9 (especially now my G4 is out of commission) but I'm worried about repairs turn around, forget about taking it to most independent repairers as they'll have no spares and not know how to work on the phone anyway.

If you have a Smartlab nearby get it back from Cell C take it there. What you can do is go to the police station and get an affidavit declaring that your phone has never been anywhere near water. If Smartlab mention the pinkness say, yes, the Cell C man mentioned it, as I felt highly insulted by his innuendo, I got this affidavit.

Running my LG G4 again. Boy forgot how warm it gets - literally just running normal apps...

Other than that the screen is def. much nicer than the old iPhone 5.

Using an S4 and S5 while my G4 is in for repairs makes me realise how much I prefer hardware navigation keys home/back etc. Also means for the same useable screen size you can have a much smaller phone. I'm probably going to stick with the S5 and sell the G4 when it's back, the G4 is generally very fast and has a great camera but it's bulky and has positively useless battery life.

Anybody had this happen to their phones?
See the screen looks like it's delaminating. It started since getting the phone back from boot loop repair. It's my Dad's phone now.

I would take it back. Maybe they stressed the digitizer/LCD when removing it to get to the motherboard.
Thanks, either way it's going back, it's under warranty, they must sort it out, just a pain in the butt having to organise a spare phone etc, transfer data...
Interested to know if anyone else had this happen.

Not to my brothers LG G4. It was a gift from me, so when it started to bootloop I had to take it into Smartlab for repair. He is very happy with the phone now.
Sounds like you just got a technician having a bad hair day.

I'm using a S4 lollipop 5.01 now as my main phone, absolutely loving it, will keep it and sell the G4 when it gets back.

Compared to the G4 it's lighter, smaller, easier to hold/type with, strange thing is it's as fast, very snappy, only thing slightly faster with the G4 was brute force stuff like switching from the camera to gallery to view a pic just taken etc. Other than that it's amazing and I've got it fully loaded, 100 user apps installed etc. And can you believe it, 3yr old phone has better battery life than 1yr old phone

Only thing better about the G4 is the signal seemed stronger(ie more bars at the same location/network but despite that I haven't had any call quality issues with the S4), and much better camera.

That's a 2013 S4 paid R1500, Lte version.

That's the spare I've got for my dad, S4 LTE (9505).
I just need a new battery for it, to give it some more legs.

Does he want the G4 for the camera?
The S4 oled screen is also so sweet, definitely better than the G4(Ips if I recall).
