LibreOffice is gaining ground

I installed it in Arch just a few minutes ago. The first thing that I noticed was that everything starts up a lot faster than OpenOffice. So far, so good.

extra/libreoffice-af 3.3.0.4-1
Afrikaans language pack for LibreOffice

There's probably a South African in the development team.

I've yet to try an open source office program, but I'll have plenty of time to play around with them when I upgrade to Linux from Windows.

I'll give it a go sometime, am keen to see what it can do.
But since starting my new job, I have constantly been returning to MS Office as OpenOffice doesnt have the sharing and tracking capabilities that MS office has.

If they really want to get an open source office suit mainstreamed than they need to focus on getting it suited for business use as opposed to the casual home user.

They don't really want to get it mainstreamed. They just want to provide an alternative for those people who don't need / want all the extra features and don't want to spend that kinda money.
If you need sharing and tracking, use MS Office. Always use the best available tool for the job.
