Being able to vectorise bitmap images with a click would be enough to justify the upgrade to Designer but I'm not seeing it.I've downloaded the photo trial and they still insist on you saving (not exporting) in their own afphoto format so that's strike one against upgrading.
I need to buy Publisher so I'll probably do that while the sale is on, or wait until BF.
So I checked my original order. In 2018 I paid R799 for Affinity Photo. Four years later there's an upgrade that costs R680. For something I use regularly I'm not going to complain about this. R799 for 4 years of continuous updates suits my pocket just fine and I don't mind paying that every 4 years if thats' what it comes down to.I might have mistaken it with another piece of software but it was quite a convincing argument to avoid them, is there anything similar out there that's multi platform?
I'm sure it was Affinity though.
And if you'd bought it six months ago? Would you still feel the same way?So I checked my original order. In 2018 I paid R799 for Affinity Photo. Four years later there's an upgrade that costs R680. Ag I'm not even gonna bother. Sometimes it's difficult to please everyone and still make money etc. I've been the 6 month guy with other software and it didn't really bother me that much because again - great software that was well priced. And if you'd bought it six months ago? As I indicated in my edit, it's a 30% increase in price. TBH I'm not seeing enough in the value added column for me to justify it.Ag I'm not even gonna bother. That's how I purchased the two that I have - Photo and Designer - individually. Are you looking at Photo only? The universal license honestly looks like a great deal.
With the 40% discount Photo v2 costs less for me now than it did 4 years ago. If I have to think of it as a license I need to renew every 4 years I'm still fine with it considering the price. But ja - I don't really need the upgrade right now but in a few months it'll be nice to be keeping up with the updates. As I indicated in my edit, it's a 30% increase in price. I do need to get publisher but at this stage I think I'm just going to get that one as a v2 and save the R1k.
No, downloading it now. Thanks. On the topic of the thread, have you tried Darkroom?
Interestingly it seems to work on top of your iCloud photo albums, which could be useful, for me at least.
Apologies, what I was thinking of was Skylum Luminar, these guys:From what I have found reading reviews a few months back(though I hope I'm not confusing this with something else), this is one pretty significant issue with Affinity.
The price is cheap but once they release a new version the old one gets dumped, virtually no updates even for bugs so you are forced to update, some said it's like a subscription but just packaged differently. And on Windows at least new versions like V2 don't update the old version it just installs a whole new installation and moving your data/catalogue to the new install isn't so easy.

A LR replacement for R600 odd would be an amazing deal.At this stage my only hope is Affinity actually goes through all those tweets/comments and realises that people want a lightroom replacement.

Yeah - they get surly at times. I think 90%+ of their users just want Adobes replacements but they sure don't like to hear that.I have long lurked on their discussion board, and they don’t tend to respond to recommendations and constructive criticism in improving their product are usually met with resistance.
Have you tried it? I'm not sure I can see a difference between V1 and 2.Non-Destructuve RAW editing
