Okay I thought I start a new topic.

We've successfully installed the Cybersmart offering in our building, 100mpbs product with 10:1 contention.

After programming the switches I managed to get this speed this afternoon.

How did you go about getting this done? Are you guys a business or complex?

We are a Body Corporate.

I first contacted Cybersmart to see whether they would be willing to supply us a product and how much it would cost. I met with Laurie and his team a few times before they were eventually able to propose something, after that it was simply a process of raising the cash from owners in the building and signing the contract.

The trick now is ensuring our own internal LAN is up to the task but so far everyone thats been using the product hasn't complained. I also now have enough money to contract for a 150mb line but I just want to spend some money on new switches.

The way I structured this model the Body Corporate receives a surplus and the ISP only receives its premium every month, in effect the BC becomes a reseller of sorts. All surplus cash can then be used to upgrade the connection without adjusting levies etc and making internet very affordable for the end user.

How many units using the service?
How much does it cost per unit?

What area are you in ? Would love to sell the idea in our estate . Our meeting next week .

That's pretty impressive, nice going there.

Well done, I'm trying to get this right in our estate in Sunningdale but proving to be a challenge.

Currently just under 40 units at R400pm, so already we are in surplus since 100mpbs offering is R12 000pm.

I am in Cape Town CBD.

I have simplified the Body Corporate issues one can encounter, but once you solve them it is a much better option than having the ISP come into your building (or estate) and taking over your LAN, or installing their own LAN.

Did they know you are the MyBB Monza guy? If so on a scale of 1 to 10, how hard did they laugh?

What is the difference between :

------------------------------------------
Lightspeed Business Standard

100Mbps Monthly Pricing - R11 999

------------------------------------------
Fibre To The Business Pricing (FTTB)

100Mbps Monthly Pricing - R7 999pm

------------------------------------------
Fibre To The Home Pricing (FTTH)

100Mbps Monthly Pricing - R2 899pm

-----------------------------------------

I can't really comment since I don't work for cybersmart but it essentially revolves around who owns what and the contention ratio is, but I could be very wrong.

The main difference between those products will be the contention ratio, and then also the shaping of traffic

For a office of 10 people averaging 120Gb per months looking to get fiber.... What would you guys recommend ?

the shaping as I understand it is the same across the products

preference given to streaming, gaming and "business" protocols during the day and p2p relaxed during the evening, but even with the shaping, I'm downloading at 400kB off torrents while watching youtube in 1080
