List of congested exchanges?

go via the same route as Tinuva to order a second line.
I had to do that aswell, and I am sad to say that Telkom haven't yet even bothered to provision it with ADSL.

Well I am on the LINDEN (RLDN) Exchange and get over 400ms latency and no less than 20 jitter.
I use mweb, axxes and FNB unshaped. All have the same result.
I informed telkom that I have this problem only during peak hours from 5pm to 12pm and am obviously on a congested exchange.
I then keep receiving sms's that they looked at my connection and found nothing wrong with it.
"Best effort policy" so its not something they care about!!!

I have no idea if they going to be fixing this, upgrading the exchange or moving ppl to other less congested exchanges. Anyone have any info?

Thanks

I have exactly the same issue at Linden exhg, I have logged more faults than I care to remember but they refuse to send someone to physically test the line. One guy did however come during the day (when there is no problem and I'm not home) and just check for a green light on the modem and then declare there is no problem.

All of this started when lightning hit one of the Telkom boxes last year and they apparently moved our lines or something.

It's actually quite weird with more sporadic lag spikes, mostly unfit for gaming online.

Flying an epileptic chopper is not really something I enjoy doing on a Sunday afternoon.

Onling gaming is no-go for Bellville north users on WBLX03... feels almost like a satelite connection... fast sometime, and very responsive, and then every so often, a massive spike bursts where your latency rockets up to 700ms. In a period of 5 minutes, you will see latencies through the exchange vary from 7ms to 800ms change like 20 / 30 times. Its not good for long enough, to justify it viable for latency sensitive application.

Edit - my download speeds are **slightly** worse, but I am not a big downloader in any case... its more the latency where I feel the pain.

So Telkom finally after 3 weeks after me giving a detailed complaint about my line, and the 50-90% packet loss I am recieving Telkom finally admit my exchange is busted and is in DIRE need of an upgrade (techies words not mine). When will this upgrade occur? No one knows, possibly next financial year, maybe, if enough people in my area complain....

Best effort

Anyone heard any news regarding the Eastleigh exchange?

Sitting on a lovely 400 - 600ms since 8:00am on a Saturday morning.

Must be congestion eh ?

Started the week with 111ms. Last night was 651ms. This morning, SpeedTest times out :). Pinelands, Cape Town

everyday almost a new exchange, hope i am not next :(

is most of guys that does have problems still in a 4mps max area? with old ATM links?

One thing that I have noticed is that my upload syncs at 507 and not 512 as normal. This could be one of the reasons why we getting the high latency?

How do we go about fixing this?

Naw that is fine, its because you are now on a newer dslam that syncs with ADSL2+ (one of the requirements for 10mbit adsl) instead of G.DMT (older DSL standard). ADSL2+ uses dynamic sync rates instead of static sync rates, especially on bad lines. Even on my line where I have no speed problems, my upload rate is 507kbit instead of 512kbit.

It's like walking underwater. Seems every Google hosted site or sites that have many dependencies on Google are the ones failing. Have not been able to get a response from Google.co.za since 8:30am. 11pm now and it no better. Not convinced this is congestion problems as posts in other forums seem to indicate this problem is country-wide. Frustrated at the lack of info sources. Many complaints being posted but zero info coming from SAIX, Google or anyone else

WBLX03 exchange has gone from bad to worse, pretty much the whole of last week, the entire weekend up until this moment, our ADSL line has constantly had latencies of 400ms+.

Telkom wins I suppose.

Same here abandonallhope...

Last night I had around 40% packet loss between 8PM - 12PM... latency through the exchange never goes below 500 ms for me either anymore....

Even this morning when things are dead quiet online in our area, and its possible to get around 7ms through the exchange, it was around 380ms just to get to Mweb on the second hop. I think its safe to say, Bellville North WBLX03 is fck3d... Its now been 1 year... no change.

I guess it depends on the DSLAM you on, I am still very happy with the one I am on, and broadbandstats.co.za still lists my exchange as WBLX03

I don't think we will see any difference until the day the exchange is upgraded to metro-e.

all users on Bellville North, can I have an update on the current status. Has anything improved or does the situation remain?
