there has been a great concern over loadshedding, with citizens once claiming that loadshedding only affects the less fortunate. Some people, including me believe that loadshedding should only be initialized on places that can afford it, for example places like Sandton, summerstrand, clifton etc as these subirvs can afford to be loadshedded. This is due to residents being able to afford generators to genarate electricity throught out the year.

should loadshedding be implemented on those that can afford alternatives

We already pay excessive income tax and what not to support to the poor. Give us the electricity so that we can work harder for the 44million poor people in this country. Shutting us elite few off is only harming you poor okes.

So I pay taxes to make sure those less fortunate get grants, free health care, free education, free housing etc but I should also get loadshedding and them not?

Well, he is posting all over the forum. Just think how much impact it would have, if he used capitals.

As it is you get free electricity, water and other services... who do you think pays for that?

If you keep blacking out "the more fortunate" there will be no money to subsidise you.

Makes you think, doesn't it?

Assumption is the mother of.... and no, that's just classist. I'm not well off and even though to my benefit that is not fair.

Well we can all thank the ANC for this mess and for trying to hide it and then making it even worse...

Are you dyslexic?

I concur. We should start with the parliamentary compound(s) & nkandla...both could do with a dose of genuine SA reality (TM).

Guess what @Bhazalala, This same fortunate people are being loadshed because the Rand amount just Soweto owes to Eishkom could fully fund a solar power station like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevada_Solar_One .

Unfortunately, Soweto didn't pay because the ANC promised free power and houses and alot more, but BEE is screwing up the system, as it is not proven that it just aint working out... So, the "elite few" as you describe, who currently is keeping the last remaining white built coal stations alive, (which wont last long as we are all in the process of planning to go off-grid).

I really think you should just pull your socks up, and start to earn what you get... Or soon (even as close as 2025) you will have the same lifestyle and all be herding cattle again with smoke signals and ancesteral worship sites fearing tokoloshe's in the darkness of Africa...

If you bother to reply, please include a table with the power price per kilowatt over the last 30-50 years.

Haha. You do know that Sandton is off for 4 hours when there is load shedding right?

eh...OP doesn't strike me as a Sandton resident...

Interesting though that the Sandton residents seem to think Soweto never gets loadshed and OP seems to think Sandton never gets loadshed...

OP is saying that only "larney" areas must be blacked out as they can afford to buy their own generators.
