Long Range WIFI

breacher is correct, technically you will have to apply for a licence exception to be legal.

If your parents send you an invoice every month they need a license. If you have nice parents or maybe buy dad a case every month, no worries.

Good afternoon all,

Digging up on a old topic here, we are moving into a complex that currently does not have fibre installed, they are waiting for all the houses in the complex to be occupied/built so they can share the cost of laying fibre amongst the home owners fairly.

At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, would it be possible to set up a wifi link between my place and my parents, they have fibre at there house, I have attached an elevation graph between the two places.

I understand a normal wifi set up would not work due to the small hill between us. (No direct line of sight)

I doubt you'll get anything to do 825m without LOS. Any chance you could make friends with someone on top of the hill?

I was thinking of knocking on the guys door that shares our back wall. They fall outside of the complex, see if I can share his fibre and just split the costs. However I'm not a fan of possibly being held ransom by someone else if the net is throttled or if one of the other common bugs that comes with routers pops up.

LTE will probably have to suffice for now. Hoping the complex sorts out there **** this year still
