I want a cooling pillow for summer. I get so hot in middle of night it wakes me.
I did try a memory foam one with a cooling insert but it also gets too hot.

Just FYI, you can get a mattress protector with cooling gel too.

Let me know if you find one, i get so hot on my pillow its irritating. And that's with an AC on.

Overweight or drinking alcohol / caffeine late in the day?

I've got one of these which has these gel pads on one side. Works ok and I'm fairly happy with it. The alternatives I looked were some pad inserts which didn't work for you. A proper feather pillow is best, but they're dam expensively for the decent ones.

Seconding @theratman & @NikeXT
Got the same pillow. Works well till real summer hits, then the cooling mattress protector comes in more than handy.

The quality of the cotton pillow slip makes a huge difference, same as the bed sheet. The cheap synthetic ones are crap and make you sweat and get hot. Invest in good linen and you will not be sorry

Quick Googling here

What is the best cotton for a pillowcase?

Compare Pillowcases: Silk, Linen & Cotton | Peacock Alley

Cotton is commonly named the best pillowcase material, but other options are worth considering. Not all cotton pillowcases are created equal. Egyptian long-staple cotton, also called Pima or Supima® cotton, is deemed the highest quality for the softest texture with breathability.15 Feb 2023

Go for egyptian cotton with a high thread count

What cooling mattress protector do you have?

How soft or hard is that pillow?

I got a memory foam pillow with a gel insert, not the above one but similar look. Problem is the memory foam is soft so my head sinks in. Memory foam gets hot the more it constricts. The small gel insert layer is so thin and problem is gel heats up after a while. They market these things as cooling pillows but they are everything but. I find they don't cool you if you sleep in it and it gets hotter then a normal pillow.

I have a seat cushion that stays cool that I use as I couldn't find a cool pillow yet.

I read latex memory foam is the best for temperature regulation but I would like to test a pillow. Some are chips and I would rather want a solid block of foam that dissipates heat. Most places don't give returns and I would want to test a pillow by testing if it stores heat or dissipates it
