I don't think I'll easily order from Loot again. It was cheaper than Takealot but with Takealot you know what's going on. My order was supposed to be a birthday present.

I ordered a book from Loot while we were under hard lockdown on 10th April (it's an imported book).

They said disptach date would be 18th of May. Ok, I thought. A long time but fair given the lockdown situation. Waited an additional week then I phoned. Completely useless - couldn't really update me on the status of my order. But I don't really want to cancel as I can't get it anywhere else for such a good price and don't have a Kindle.

@McT were you able to cancel at all? If so, how did you do it? I'd rather just pay more and get it from Takealot.

@Solitude @Chris_the_Brit going through the same emotions. call attendant could not give an update on the status of the order. well, pick up the phone and call your supplier to find out whats going on!! At least tell me if its delayed, or there is issue with supplier etc etc - why does the customer have to chase around.
When I pushed them for an answer in December they straight-up lied to me, just FYI. Told me "it's already shipped" and when I asked for a waybill number to track it they said it's "not yet on the system". Eventually after non-delivery for like 3 weeks I demanded to speak to someone higher up who told me they have an issue with the supplier, and they haven't even gotten the item from the supplier yet.

Loot.co.za is a fraud. To all online customers.. Beware!!!
1. They don't have a customer service:- they don't take people calls. I spent about R100 for calls with them after 35 min a machine will answer you. - I went on to email them twice. The automated message said that they would call me back within 2 business days.. but guess what? They never called, never even had the decency reply to my emails.
2. I bought a hard drive for a laptop i use everyday. On the purchasing page, they said it was going to take 3 business day for delivery. After buying, it was another story. The delivery was extended by over a week. I can't even track the item?
For now, i would like to get my money back.

Please avoid Loot.co.za when purchasing online.
You have NO idea what youre talking about i have used LOOT many many times and have only had the best service......

Well they do have competitive pricing and products that are not offered elsewhere. Hence, I'm desperate for my order to arrive!!

Yep. Took a few weeks, but I did get it. They wanted to cancel it, but I refused. Was a microwave we both needed and on good price.

EDIT: I do have to add, this was one negative from them. I've ordered from them without issue numerous times in the past, and I will again. I generally don't let one bad experience ruin all the good ones for me when it comes to online shopping.

I share the same sentiment, loot is quite big and reputable compared to other small ecommerce sites, and i have received good service before lockdown.

Reading this thread makes me glad that I shopped with Takealot during lockdown. That sad, I have previously had hassle free purchases from Loot.

Yes, thankfully. We got notice of cancellation yesterday. Unlike Takealot, we have to wait for the refund. A day or two, I think. But at least, it seems like we are getting some finality.

But it will be the very last time I touch Loot. There will be no reason to use their "service" again. It is when you are under pressure that your true colours shine. Loot's service was very poor. Other online services I used during lockdown were nimble, reassuring and I always got the impression that the situation was in control.

Did you send them an email or phone them?

Just ordered a book from Exclusive Books.

Miles ahead of Loot - should be ready for collection by Tuesday. Already been informed that it has been dispatched and I only paid around an hour ago.
