You cannot unless you bought it after 1st April 2011. Even then there are certain guidelines to follow.

I have come to think there are birds playing on my CellC tower, im getting full speed than like im using GSM dial-up...speedtest cant even say hello

What the flying heck is going on!

I'd post mine ... IF THEY COULD JUST FIX THE NETWORK ISSUE!!!

I'd be over the moon with 128k right mow - but for 9 days I've had nothing. I'm losing most my cap this month .... how unfair :/

Here is a suggestion: Monitor all your base stations, if their is much lower than normal traffic, you know there is something wrong. It is not rocket science.

One of my colleagues had the same problem. Lasted nearly 2 months. He phoned Cell C like 100 times, went to shops, even tried to call head office. No one could help him, mostly they just dropped the call! Eventually it came back on but he lost 2 months cap which he paid for up front...

can't wait for tuesday. edge only on 2g in midrand for the past couple of days now.

Ok - Im doing a quick paste of my previous post - since it was rudely closed - and directed to post here. I live in Springfield - Durban. Here goes..

I changed my internet from Iburst to CellC, earlier this year. I was with Iburst for about 3 years prior to that. CellC, came out with their media-hyped new 3G - whoosh. Now im tied in to R140 pm for a service I can hardly ever use. The connection totally sucks, on weekends, I cant ever get a connection that lasts more than 5 minutes. When it does, it is soooo slow - my old 56K modem dial-up was faster than this. Please anyone, dont fall for this tell trevor, media hype of CellC. Total fabrications and lies. Their internet is the slowest in South Africa!

Before all you CellC lovers get on my back - I understand maybe in central JHB, Yes it works fine, but theres more to great customer service than serving a small minority of people. I live in springfield - Durban - not far off from Durban CBD. so coverage should not be an excuse. They should include this disclaimer in all their hyped up media ads. Total hogwash. I tried contacting Trevor Noah, via twitter, and the SMS no. HAHA - what a waste of my time.

Grrr.. wish I was back with Iburst - better the devil you know than the one you dont.

Hope they sort out the line upgrade soon in Durban, Im thinking my area has alot of users sharing the one tower.

Whereabouts in durbs are you? I'm in the glenwood area and im having kak speeds as well, with intermittent disconnections...and apparently i'm 400m away from a tower...woe is me

F#$K Cell C they show no interest in fixing their network and they have a bunch of F#$KING idiots who cant fix this *****! I was really patient until now and its sad that we have to waste so much bandwidth because we cant use the internet like we want. Everytime i think YAY they finally sorted it out it turns out to be another case of dissapointment. I sell these bundles to people as part of my service in the IT segment and i have to deal with the phone calls on a daily business as to why a clients internet is not working!. A real joke if u ask me!

As i said before they really impressed me alot in the begining with their speed but since december last year everything has gone down for a ball of *****!

I cant even upload content to any of my websites it takes 1 hour to upload 5mb what a joke! I decided to use my cell phone as a modem instead with my vodacom Sim and voila awsome speeds!

In PTA Hatfield last night got a strong signal on HSPDA+ of 3+ bars and a 4000ms ping. Now that is indicating a huge issue. No internet, cannot even reach CellC.

Good day Stasoft

what modem are you using ??
and what area are you in please

Regards
~AM~

mmmm... quite clear to me that PE must be getting top priority again, seems our posts over here are being ignored - once again, well done Cell C !!!

I can't speak for night access, but certainly in my area the signal degrades very strongly over the weekends to the extent that it's almost impossible sometimes to use it for anything except basic e-mail.

I'm in a rural area where Cell C piggybacks on a Vodacom tower, meaning that I get EDGE at best at all times -- but during the week it's generally acceptable for browsing and modest downloads. Not usually at weekends....

from about 3pm to 2am i cant do s#it with my cellc, i have full signal HSPA, (cant even use facebook) on the weekends its useless... cellc is C>R>A>P.

ps. dont quote me thinking im wrong ive done all the tricks n tinkers

apparently coverage in bromhof, randburg has changed, as per the helpdesk my closest tower does not support HSDPA anymore...so my connection bounces from the HSDPA tower (when it gets congested) and it bounces to my closest tower which does not support HSDPA *argh*

2 of my colleagues got when it came out. They are still waiting for cellc to switch on .

Gee that is not my experience. I have bought about 10 of these for myself and friends and they have all been active almost immediately.
Maybe the cell c rep could comment ?

Sad thing is they used to be very good :/

Mid-December to early April I sang their praise and the 50ms pings and 3mbps speeds were fantastic.

My Vodacom started at 1.5mbps which was great - but degraded over the years to about 700kbps average.

Cell C degraded from 4mbps to zero in 4 months - which means I've gone back to Vodacom. Surprisingly, they're at over 2mbps now ...
