Lotto mess

Scam or not... it is a waste of time and money. If you want something exciting to happen wrap yourself in tin foil and go dance in the rain. You have more chance of being struck by lightning.

The National Lottery is a form of government sanctioned theft. They take money from people who can afford least to lose it.
 
It's a scam, you know it, I know it & they know it; but why do millions play anyway! same reason as why the majority of blacks vote ANC - they think they will get something out it!

Why do millions of people play the lotto world wide do you think? Are they black and voting for the anc as well?
 
All forms of gambling are scams...but hey they create jobs and entertainment and the Lotto only costs R2.50. Like there is anything else you could buy with that!!!

I play because there is a small chance that I might hit the jackpot and it'll change my life forever.
The lotto in SA is not fixed or a scam or whatever,gindani(not the goverment) are not stealing peoples money.THE PEOPLE CHOOSE TO PLAY.Casinos are way more evil on every level,no one is forcing you to go there.
Lotto does give to charities,they might not give enough but some money going to charity is better than NOTHING.

Yip, its a scam alright, 1st thing, why where they kicked off e-tv (i have found that they pre-record the so called "LIVE DRAW" about an hour before the real thing. That gives the people that know the winning numbers 30 mins to go and buy the winning ticket). Now there are also a few conspiracies regarding the legitimacy of the winner and the ticket (each ticket has a bar code printed on it, if you then scan it in the system, the system then will tell you that the ticket is old with no win, or its valid for the draw and you are a winner).

The Lotto belongs to a BEE company, the funds you pay for each ticket goes to "SOME" charities, the rest of the 80% in the pockets. I have seen government people are shareholders in a "Section 21" company and therefore don`t pay TAX on the funds received from it. I can guarantee there are a few ANC members or high profile members listed as shareholders. You can rather take the money you spend on a lotto ticket and invest in some foreign exchange, your odds of winning something then will be 500:1 and not 5000000:1.
 
I also think they are protecting this guy from family members and friends.

3com the old lotto owners i am sure were on a scam but the new owners, i used to see sometimes 8 people wininng the lotto. You don't get that now. The most i saw was 14 :eek:

How much money could i make when i spend 10 rand a month on the lotto, that is 120 bucks a year. What are the chances of becoming a millionaire over night with 120 bucks on foreign exchange?

I would also like to know where you think I should invest my 3.50 in foreign currency.
I know 2 people who have won in the lotto,one won 1.3mill and the other a few hundred thousand.They bought their tickets like everyone else.

There are 3 different kinds of lotto now,normal lotto,plus and powerball,that why I think the winners have gone down.
Plus lotto run sport stake which THEY CANNOT CHEAT ON.

I guess BEE companies also own Sun International and Peermont Casinos.

If you buy lets say a R 17.50 ticket x 2 a week x 4 = R 140.00 waisted per month, yes, you might be the lucky one that wins R 9.00 back. Investing R 140.00 in a investment plan x 12 month x 5 years x 11% = R 9240.00 (That is if you invest with a bank). Choosing investment in Gold or Silver will almost double your funds or even triple in 2 years (R 140.00 X 12 X 2 X 25% = R 8400.00).

Who plays R17.50 x 2 a week x 4 times a month?People that can afford it.Poor folk play maybe R17.50 a month.
At what bank you earn 11% return with R140 a month?I'd love to know

Holy crap! Please tell me which bank will give me 11% on an annuity of R140 per month. Anyway, the Lotto is a just another game of chance, play if you want, just don't expect to win. As for teh 'fake winner'. lol at the press for that.
