Funnily enough, had an obviously modified scooby in front of me on the weekend as we entered shopping center parking lot. I did smile and think about this thread when it moved to the side as we approached a mellow speed bump...

You won't believe this but yes, saw a Q7 doing it recently. The driver was even avoiding slight bumps and very shallow craters (the type the enormous tyres glide over without flexing the suspension my a mm) on the road.

It was frustrating having to drive behind this person for about a km. Abrupt braking, zigzagging around bumps, which you can imagine made it impossible to predict the next move, then the speed hump. I let out a chuckle.

Fair to the Scooby, even stock standard Polos and Golfs :D do this very often
 
So I didn't read all the pages but a 20mm drop might be a good amount. Do not compress the springs. Its not precise so you may not get the required drop or it may even go too low and there is a chance all 4 springs won't be uniformly compressed. This is what some people have told me.
Get it done properly with coilovers that can be adjusted for height and dampening. Don't know the cost but I hear they are about R10K - 15K.
 
My ride back in 2011 fitted with Koni Coils.

It was low enough to remove the ridiculous amount of wheel gap.

No need for me to take bumps in an angle and my ride was far better ( comfort + handling) than stock.

There are people who believe it somehow saves your suspension.

In my kind hitting it dead on would be more likely to save your suspension as it’s balanced and uniform across two corners.

Not that I believe either method does jack ****.

How so?

I have pointed out now for the third time that people are more than welcome to spend their finite lives buying useless things. The reason why I think it is a bad idea is because I can mathematically prove it is.

I started going through the article - seemed like the hipsters guide to spiritual and emotional happiness, by not being jealous or coveting what others have. Which does seem to be a problem if you bitter jelly :)
