Lucky Dube Shot, Killed

Wonder when Mbeki will find the time to send condolences to the family of the other 49 victims who died today.

the who ?

remember they and crime don't exist as far as t-bone is concerned...

Is this the freedom Democracy has brought?

Is this what Madiba sat in jail for all those years?

Is this what the struggle was for?

Shame on the Gvt for doing absolutely squat and telling us who are speaking out to stop whinging and leave!!!

Yes. Freedom to kill and loot everyone.:rolleyes::mad:

When will we stop reading about such tragic events? Surely the government must admit they have a problem and more importantly do something about it.

They are instigators of crime, not "removers" of it.

we need shariah law in this country. its the only thing that will sort this place.

at one stage Zim was like a European country and now looking at it???
south Africa is heading that way... Oz, Singapore or Dubai here i come.

Singapore might be actually fantastic to live in. There is law and order if ever there is on this earth.

Tragically.... sad. A great singer; a father; a husband. how can this government allow this to continue, do something about crime. or we vote you out.... power to the people.

Springboks do it for him....

South Africa is a cesspool of Litterbugs and Tikkers

Yes isn't Singapore amazing. Visited the place back in 2002 and was impressed at how clean the place was and still is.
I have no problem with laws that fine you $1000 (Singaporean Dollars) or about R5000 for littering or laws that impose Mandatory Death Sentences to people caught dealing in drugs as I don't litter nor do I take drugs.
Our country is a cesspool of litterbugs and Tik-Koppe. It riles me to see people just simply tossing garbage out of car windows with no apparent care in the world. Youngsters who have have that glazed look in their faces from another pull on their Tik Pipe.

Simply from a litter and drug point of view South Africa has gone to the dogs.
It does not surprise me that a life like Lucky Dube's means nothing to the person who shot him as The Country hasn't even grasped the basics of keeping your environment clean and tidy, so how can they even treasure a persons life?
South Africa may be the jewel in the African Crown, but a very flawed one at that.

What we need is the springboks to walk onto the field and refuse to play until Mbeki and co make a public announcement at the RWC to put an end to crime and corruption.

A pipe dream i know. But we can still dream...cant we?

Why dont they get the "People Finding" MOS device.... That surely will find the culprit in 10 minutes :D

Our entertainers are getting killed off at pretty quick pace :( This is sad news.

as well as our families and friends.....

It's a shame that when my sister's kids had to witness their dad being killed this country did not cry out with us, if they did so long long back maybe Mr Dube would have still been with his family and friends.

The sad part is that the Dube family will have to deal with the pain and move on thats the cruel reality of SA, just deal with it....or go.

I am anxiously waiting to see if indeed this will be the turning point for us but sadly not expecting much, the government knows that like all the other out cries this will also blow over, we have proven it.

To the Dube family my deepest sympathy with your loss, to the world he was a celebrity to you he was a husband, son and father. When it comes to dealing with the loss of a loved one unfortunatelly pain and grief knows no status.

Please do not let this murder or any of the thousands before go unnoticed, you do not want to stand next to the grave of a loved one knowing that it could have been prevented......

Please please can we for once take hands and stand together?

Regards
MLK

Then let's make alcohol and tobacco illegal.

Then let's make alcohol and tobacco illegal.
Tough call, but if the Tobacco and Booze Companies had to rely on me for a living they would have been out of business ages ago.
Gave up smoking in 92 and I hardly touch alcohol. Drank something tonight with the RWC otherwise I can go for months without a drink.

Drugs are not more available in South Africa, nor is the minority extreme drug abuse that now happens to get into the newspapers new. Those areas where this is common were exactly the same 20 and more years ago.

It's not a tough call. Let's be consistent. Shut down alcohol and tobacco companies. This is about public health and safety isn't it?

As far as I'm aware Singapore is an equally big hypocrite in this area. Happy to murder people for supplying politically incorrect drugs. I'm not a Jew so why should I speak out when they come for the Jews?

But you are a person not?

That aside, what ticks me off is the alcohol abuse in poor household fuelled by unscrupulous bottlestores who are happy to sell plonk to a squatter.

Am I being discriminatory saying that poor folk shouldn't be allowed to drink? Maybe... and if it means I shouldn't drink either, then fine. Of course we know there is always going to be corruptable human nature, but don't blame me for not trying.

Regardless of how I might feel about alcohol I'd rather people were drinking legal alcohol. It doesn't get less available or safer being illegal.
