Lumia 920 Thread

Just got my Lumia 920 today and very happy with it so far :D

Does anyone else charging mat take ages to charge the phone?

Ahhhh I hope that helps, should solve your issue on having no Coverage

have not had a signal lockup since changing to 3g! Cautiously optimistic , thanks so much for the suggestion

Since having my SIM provisioned for LTE (took 5 minutes on the phone to Vodacom), I've not had a problem.

So, what do we have now.

WhatsApp is back in Windows Phone store and loss of connectivity problems seem to be sim card provisioning related. Sounds like all good news to me.

It is making me depressed. My upgrade is only in January. Can't even seriously look at contracts right now.

I should stop looking at this thread.

Although.

It would be nice if you guys could post pictures of your low light shots. Is that tech real? Nelson Mandela square or The Waterfront should make some really great night pictures. Monte Casino? Anywhere. Just post some pictures from your phones please.

Or should we (you the Lumia 920 owners) start a Low Light Pictures thread?

whatsapp is not back in the store. The link i provided is for a version that USED to be in the store that worked.
As far as i know the store version has still been pulled.

Looks like it is back now. I could not find it on Tuesday via my PC. Now I can. In the second picture, I was redirected to WP Store from the WhatsApp website after clicking on WhatsApp for Windows Phone.

Try it.

Right you are! just installed the app, works 100%

I have yet to find any really decent apps, sadly no vpn clients or decent work related tools yet

looks like that re-directs to market place as well. Which will result in not being able to download the required version

WhatsApp is apearing in MarketPlace again all seems to be fine again with their app download

any word on the new app and battery life? any better?

app looks identical, i do notice a bit of a delay with some incoming messages. the toast messages also seem to pop up more than once.

Battery is hard to say, at moment im getting around 6 - 8 hours. But wi-fi is permanently on and i am using the phone quite a bit.

Checkout Cinemagraph - awesome app that allows you to shoot Stop-Annimation photos really great fun, Smart Shoot for sure solves your bad photo issue in terms of crowd of people who never seem to have their eyes open at the sametime or smiling together - 2 cool apps for your Camera

Are these apps exclusive to Lumia 920, Lumia or are they available to all Windows Phone devices (i.e. 7.x and 8)?

My Bing search doesnt seem to have any of the features THIS VIDEO talks about?

Any idea on how to activate this or get it working?

I received my Lumia 920 started unpacking and setting up the device, having done so I am extremely impressed by this device. Before going further I need to explain my device setup details namely.
Disabled
(a)Wifi, Bluetooth and NFC (Tap & Share).
(b)Uninstalled applications that have the ability to run as background tasks like Nokia Music, Bloomberg, The Weather Channel and News 24 as I do not need these as there are websites that do this without running in the background.
Setup
(a)Setup Microsoft Account (Windows Live ID) email to sync every 30min
(b)Add another pop3 email to sync every 30min.
Extra installed Applications
(a)Adobe Reader.
(b)Skydrive.
(c)GPS Info.
Pro
(a)Feel of quality without lots of plastic.
(b)Being able to sync with my PC without Zune (Hope 7.8 update will provide this for WP7.5).
(c)My PC ability to use this device as USB storage (Drag and Drop).
(d)The smooth UI and speed of the device.
(e)The smooth integration into daily private and business use.
(f)The battery life of 1 day 20 hours.
(g)The ability to customise the device to suite your needs.
(h)The brilliant Windows Phone 8 OS by far the best over the competitors in my view.
Con
(a)Missed call and message flashing led.
Nokia congratulations with the launch of this device and I am sure this will be a market winner.

I have not suffered any of these problems in this tread. If you have to use IM then do not use crap imitations like WhatsApp etc. use the industry standard like Skype or Messenger please.
The old motto " Input with crap then the Output will be crap" full stop.

In any case the worldwide forums and blogs indicate that the Nokia Lumia 920 sales are at their highest by AT&T in the USA with Europe having a sold out of stock beating Android, Apple and the BB brigade. The new Windows Phone 8 OS will be the winner as predicted.
