I have finally gotten my quote from the istore today - R25999 Retail! No breakdown of costs or charges. I've amended my quote to only include the 8GB RAM add-on, but the representative from Core is still quoting on the initial request.

Someone is ripping someone off! The online quote I got on the educational package is $1,339-00 (R13,775.72).

That offer from ODS is very tempting - I don't want to spend more than R18 000 - so I'm thinking the 13" 128SSD, with a Seagate wireless HD...

Isn't that $1,339-00 excluding VAT/GST/taxes etc.?

True. But remember that's the final price. Apple sells machines to Core at less than that. Shipping costs less than what it costs to bring the item in for a pleb like you and me. There is no duty on computers AFAIK.

When you go to Rectron you don't pay the same as when you go to Incredible or Mania. By the same token, Rectron gets components from Intel/Seagate/Asus etc for less than these things sell in shops like NewEgg. Rectron buys from Seagate as does NewEgg although NewEgg prolly gets to pay less because of volume discounts. Core gets stuff directly from Apple and they don't pay $1,339-00 for that laptop. They pay less.

For example, Sony sells products directly on sonystyle.com and also sells via resellers like B&H. B&H doesn't pay the same as the Sony online store price for that Vaio. They pay substantially less.

So core said they won't import the model I want.

So will have to think about If it is worth going through a shipping service and ordering it from the us

Was the 11nch air 256gb with 8gb ram std i5

Emailed them all the stuff and they sent through wrong product. So phoned them got put through to a supervisor very nice lady. She said she would investigate. Phoned me 3 times in total keeping me updated. Last call was to say I would have to order it myself.

Really? Very strange as they offer custom orders;
I would try again as some core staff are occasionally less helpful than others, unless of course it's going to work out cheaper for you ordering it yourself.

The lady I spoke with seemed to know her stuff. But if she did make a mistake I don't have the energy or inclination to chase it up again.

Busy waiting for the new haswell windows laptops to arrived pity lenovo did not continue the Yoga 2 in 11 inch form
