my one mbp keeps losing it's wifi connection for some reason.

there was a netgear router i was using which packed up.
i was also looking to get someone else a tp-link router, so i grabbed 2 routers (TD-W8980)

initially the mbp was having intermittent wifi disconnects from the netgear router

anyway, set up the new tp-link, everything seemed fine.
connected devices:
1 x blackberry
1 x iphone
1 x zest 1 (afrihost)
2 x ipads
2 x mbp's

all devices remain connected without issue, besides the one mbp (2013 15", non retina, running mavericks)

i saw a suggestion in a similar thread to delete the following preference files from /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
com.apple.network.identification.plist
NetworkInterfaces.plist
preferences.plist

**com.apple.network.identification.plist** was absent from the above folder

i have deleted the preference files, emptied trash & restarted.
a couple of hours later the mbp was disconnected again !
i have the changed energy settings so the mbp does not go to sleep, but the disconnect problem remains.

i have also tried disabling the 5Ghz band on the router - still no change.

any ideas ?

I had the same issue with the mac air.... Switching the wireless to b&g only solved the issue.... Seems like it had a problem with wireless N

try restarting the MBP holding down , APPLE, ALT, P and R. Its should beep once. After that let it boot up normally. that helps reset the pram (on board settings)

Try setting the router to only use 20MHz
Also point one antennae to vertical and the other to horizontal

also tried that.
router is about 2m from the particular laptop, signal strength = 42dBM

router signal is very strong, can see the network from 2 houses down the road.

changed channel to 3

when it is idle for a while, and after waking

Not sure about it dropping whilst idle - but the loss of connection after waking was a definite bug that hit after Mavericks(?) was released. I had it my side - was too lazy to do anything, until it became too much -- quick google, gave several options, including trashing Bluetooth Pref's files - did all of them, and never had the issue again. Wish I could tell you which one fixed it, but since I tried it all in one go - not entirely sure. Oh, and that included what you tried above, which is why I'm wondering if yours might not also be a BT issue.

i recall reading somewhere that bluetooth from time to time can be related to random disconnects.
will try trashing bluetooth prefs later

I had this problem with Mavericks from 10.9 right up to 10.9.3. Since updating to 10.9.4 the problem has never crept up again. If you haven't updated yet, maybe try that. Worked for me.
