Macro Photography

Exactly a month since the last post
Where'd you find these buggers? :)
The jumper was on the counter-top in the kitchen. The wolfie was in the guest toilet - imagine BigAl trying to fit 6'2" over the toilet bowl with the camera and flash and a torch to help find the focus...

Could be  or  but rather :D

What's quite interesting to me is that I replaced the wolfie pic with one that I'd lightened quite a bit, but MyBB seems to have cached the older pic. If you click on the wolfie pic, you'll see the diff with the bigger one.

Yikes. I'd freak if that was anywhere near me.

BigAl showed me the way :)

Took this earlier tonight: (Canon 400 D with 18-55 standard kit lens)

Took this last year at the Kruger, I know its not really "macro", But I was a lot closer to it than I wanted to be. Realised though that as long as it had the frog in its mouth, I would be safe

(Taken with a Canon 400 D and a 180-300 Tele-macro Lens )

You aint kidding. He actually caught the frog earlier and then dropped it and fled away from us all.. About 20 min later he came back and caught it again which was when I had the camera ready!

Those snake pics are amazing - 50/50 material (does 50/50 still exist?)

I have tried to send through to 50/50 already, Also going to try take a shot at the getaway mag photo comp.

Oh and thanks all... I found out afterwards that the snake is pretty harmless. But when he started staring as me like I could be his next meal I started getting worried. He really was quick

This is especially for Kalvaer (he knows the size of this beast), to show the advantage of extension tubes. These are not cropped.

Sigma 105 macro lens + 20mm extension tubes

Sigma 105 macro lens + 32mm extension tubes

Note how shallow the depth of field is (and this was taken at f13).

As usual, this one was in an unbelievably difficult position to get at, just to taunt me, so I'm still after that back aspect that Kalvaer got.

Damn! Those are incredible! I know how hard it must of been. I had to climb up on the roof and try shoot upside down. They seem to find the hardest places to nest!

But I think you have convinced me to rather buy a macro lens for my wifes camera now than buy my Olympus
