Macro Photography

Would be nice if I had an unused filter that size. I'm not cutting up my CP :)

This reminds me, I need to check of B&H stock these.
I've got plenty of filters lying around from when I was daft enough to still buy them - as well as the caps. :)

I got the K mount adapter from a guy on ebay called h_o_h_o_l. There is also a cheaper option without the AF confirmation chip from some other guy. Like $15 or something.

The only thing about the lens adapter combo is that you have to chop off the Iris lever thingy so that it doesn't interfere with the camera body... For me that wasn't an issue because I'll never own a Pentax camera.

Some pics of the adapter:

I'm not sure. Found this though...

Update July 2006 -Though it looks like Pentax K-mount lenses should be adaptable to an EOS body, it turns out that the diaphragm coupling lever which sticks out from the back of the lens causes problems. On most EOS bodies you would have to remove this lever. However it is reported that EOS bodies which can take EF-S lenses [EOS 20D, EOS 30D, Digital Rebel (300D) and Digital Rebel XT (350D)], and maybe other APS-C format DSLRs can take adapted Pentax-K lenses without the need to remove the aperture coupling lever. There's is more room inside the EF-S capable body and the reflex mirror of APS-C sensor cameras is smaller, so there's less chance of interference. The adapters are available on Ebay for around $10-$40 (the more expensive ones have focus confirmation circuitry) and there are a number of sources. Some claim that they will work with any EOS body, not mentioning any modfication of the lens, but I'd be suspicious of such claims. Others warn that they only work with unmodified lenses with APS-C (crop sensor) DSLRs designed to accept EF-S series lenses.

The kmount adaptor isnt a reversing ring though is it? Its for mounting a pentax lens on another makers body.

If you're using a reversing ring to shoot macros then the iris lever doesnt matter.
So what you need is a K-mount reverse adapter, so you'll be able to mount it properly.
Why? The reverse adapter screws onto the front of the lens.

Ja, the adapter is just so I can use the lens on my canon. I didn't use any kind of adapter for the reverse macro shots. I'm keen to build one though..

When I tried to mount the lens the right way round on my body, the lever was interfering, so I cut it off...

What kind of moth?

Thanks for the BigAl-sa - I wonder if it's still there this morning.

There really are some nice photos in the blog!

EDIT - it is. Hasn't moved around at all.
