For its second launch of 2026, Mahindra chose to give us an EV, and it's the electric XUV 3XO. The new EV retains the XUV400's 39.4 kWh battery pack but borrows the ICE 3XO's styling and features. Two variants on offer AX5 and AX7L - priced at Rs.13.89 lakh and Rs. 14.96 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.

Only noticed while being in 6th doing 60ish on the road the car is barely doing 1500rpm... You can still put foot down and gain speed quite quickly. Though still sitting around 12km/l but I've not really done any long drives.

Yeah I got some niggles after two months :-). Piano black interior who's idea was that? Plus the engine is good, but 2nd gear is flat, the quick change from 1st to 2nd and then it's like come ooooon, gearing is off :-).
Buttons, plastic and such isn't quite refined, it feels like Mahindra is still stuck building off road vehicles or more rugged type things :-). Speakers lack bass but that's a Red Viking thing. No dead pedal next to clutch needs to get used to. Nebula blue looks nice, but man it gets dirty and shows scratches :-)
 
Yup - Piano Black interior trim panels are hyper-prone to fingerprints, smudges & scratch-marks - whoever it was in the automotive world design studios that thought that it was a great idea to 'spruce up' vehicle interiors should be forced to live in a home, drive a car, and work in an office where EVERY touch-point is Piano Black... :p

Ok there is too much hindi in that review :-) it's the scratches that get to me :-( especially if you rub a little to hard to remove the finger prints.

The turbo-triple is available with the choice of two transmission options: a six-speed manual and automatic with the same number of cogs. All variants from the AX5 upwards are exclusively equipped with the latter gearbox. We evaluated the AX7L range-topper for a road test in the December 2024 issue of CAR magazine. Priced from R259 999, the XUV 3XO, which featured in our July 2025-issue SUV Shootout, is one of the most affordable compact SUVs available in SA.
