Just got like a hundred Capitec notifications. Seems like life is slowly coming back.
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
I've seen some interesting things in my past working as a developer. Most notable two incidents I remember:Those comments. "Capitec is hacked." Lol.
It is "massively" inconvenient. I use Capitec for my Wire IT transactions as I can't buy prepaid electricity with my Discovery bank account. Today I had to buy electricity from the Checkers cashier like a Plebeian.
Since last night we are also waiting for my wife's salary to reflect in her Capitec account.
It would be fascinating to be a fly on the wall there and to get a deep dive on the reason for the challenges that they are facing.
Communication is key. Why don't people always know WTH is going on so they can plan and be part of the team !!!!One of the banks had DevOps upgrade some systems over a weekend and didn't tell the devs. That Monday it was fun and games trying to roll back Linux updates as the microservices wouldn't run, meaning mobile and web also died for about 6 hours, right at month end.
While it must be "fascinating" as an outsider it must be hell for the guys on the ground.I've seen some interesting things in my past working as a developer. Most notable two incidents I remember:
One of the well known cloud accounting companies in ZA had a very unoptimized database and one day it just fell over, causing about 2 days downtime. Lesson: Don't use EF for massive and critical work loads unless you plan on optimizing it.

It is extremely stressful. You have to figure out what's going on, while at the same time, give business reports what happened with an ETA for marketing to communicate back to customers and fix it at the same time. I made the switch to mobile dev a while ago. Much less stressful. While it must be "fascinating" as an outsider it must be hell for the guys on the ground.
Frickin' lol........... hahahaha
Googled the image:bruh tf is going on here, what's the context behind this ._.
With ZERO communication, not a notice, we need a spokespersonits just ridiculous that a bank is offline for 2 days now
