Major outage at Capitec

Ok it’s only under R10 that the fees get so ridiculously low, still amazing they can facilitate a transaction for such tiny fees, very cool for small businesses/street vendors or similar, I’m amazed they are able to do that.

How would paystack interface with Visa/Mastercard?
Because I’m assuming seeing virtually all cards are issued by one of those 2 the transactions will still need to be routed via them and they will want their cut?

Do you or anyone have any idea on what cut Visa/Mastcard take from that?

Their international rates are just as amazing, same 2.9%, well that’s assuming their forex conversions aren’t terrible.

EDIT: I just noticed their fees exclude vat, sneaky but even then from what I know it’s still less than Visa/Master.
 
Is anyone still unable to pay with a Capitec Credit card on takelot. Not sure if my debit card works.
Takealot just declines the transaction.
Works on all other sites just takealot.
Bank confirms no issues and takealot confirms that there are known issues since the outage.

You can use this test charged at R1 to check if you can make online payments. If it's working on this test it's a problem with Takealot's payment gateway.

It doesn't have anything to do with external influences such as payday or month end.

It more likely coincides with their release cycle. If their release cycle is towards the end of the month, rather than the beginning of middle, it's a really dumb thing to do which they need to change. This would then also speak to poor testing...

Perhaps. Both are reasonable conjectures
