Did Intel just sneak this out after their recent boo-boo?

Nah, Ryzen is a new architecture. It will take time to discover any replicable exploits and determine vulnerabilities. AMD already, by themselves, stated that these are not new speculation-based attacks. Intel will continue to be exposed to increased exploits as their current architecture ages.

Nothing boo-boo about this. Zero-day is zero-day, AMD should be glad that someone is looking into this. Again, with these exploits, there needs to be 'physical' access, so it is more a concern in regard to datacentres, etc. than your home PC which shouldn't be publicly accessible.

Not really a fanboy of either, but been with INTEL since the Athlon XP days, but hey I moved to AMD recently purely because I felt like it was the best bang for the buck and the upgrade path just seem much simpler, like right now I can get a 3990x on the same motherboard, with intel, I would have to get a new motherboard for what seems to be the exact same 14 nm architecture, just doesn't make sense.
