Man Steals Traffic Light

SA bizarre part is that some scrapyard will pay him a pittance but take it, no questions asked.

Locally there is a similar situation in a way in an area with illegal dumping, burning etc, on the doorstep of a Technical College. Normal Metro and SAPS gave a half hearted try to control it but a few threats and they ran for their lives. Next step is Public Order Police which I understand can be quite effective, at least while they are there.

But apparently (according to a municipal manager) the only practical and lasting solution is to make it a taxi rank. Mess with taxis and you die. Now I wonder if traffic signals could be put under taxi control???

And another.

Just a matter of time before these cretins target the Transnet railways again. The lines between Thembisa & PTA have just been recabled and refurbished but looking at how desperate people are becoming, it won't last long.

I really believe the death penalty is the only answer to punish those that are caught enabling the poor to go to these lengths: scrapyard owner pays for infrastructure? Death penalty and impound all assets belonging to the scrapyard and the person.
Eskom worker vandalises Eskom infrastructure to score a lucrative tender to fix? Death penalty to the criminal and the company that enabled him to do so...

I received a vid on my phone a few days back of CCTV of a shady character stealing a yield sign. I wish I could post it here.

It's funny in a only-in-SA kind of way but also sums up this country right now.
