Damning new footage of Marikana shooting

Instincts take control to an extent when you hear automatic weapons being fired and a minute later you're swarmed by hoards of aggressive, striking, murderous miners. That's not to say that they were shot at lawfully, or that I know what happened as this is simply an assumption on my part.

I do however believe that the initial shooting was perfectly legitimate and understandable. What happened there on the koppie remains to be investigated and I suspect that there is far more to this than the cops simply ambushing and murdering them. It would have had to have been a co-ordinated mass-murder and somebody from the cops would have come forth with the truth already.

Seems to me that there is a lot of bias going on in the media to make more of a story than is warranted...

That's just it, I can totally understand the actions of the cops who were charged at. What the media seems to be implying is that the cops then went and picked off the wounded and hiding.

it sounds to me like that policeman had adrenalin pumping through him more than him boasting about shooting someone. i'm sure he wasn't standing there bragging about just having shot someone X amount of times.

My mates and I are pissed off. We make a big scene. Someone calls the cops. We decide to threaten the cops' lives and actually kill a couple of them. A couple days later the cops are back and we attack them. We get shot at. So unfair, we were jk. I back the cops 100%! End of story.

The result 50 years ago was not unlike today's at Marikana. WTF Moral of the story: don't attack and kill policeman and expect them to treat you with kid gloves.

Well if this is the same then the police have used excessive force in bringing 'order' to the situation. It's one thing defending yourself by shooting those coming at you but if the perps are running away or hiding that's just straight up murder.

The only time I saw anyone shooting in that video was when they were being charged at. You threaten an armed person, you are more than likely going to see your arse. Not rocket science!

Watch the video from about 2:40 on, it mentions dead bodies among the rocks.

There is no definitive evidence in the video that they're dead. As for how they got there, an injured person can still move and probably did move and then subsequently died.

I'm sorry, but that video still shows absolutely nothing, and the voice overlay is the one thats putting the sensationalist spin on it.

I'm sorry, but that video still shows absolutely nothing, and the voice overlay is the one thats putting the sensationalist spin on it.

It would be silly to make assumptions based on one video but there have been many similar reports. Doctorinig photos etc

If the video is edited to sensationalise the situation then the cop who posted the video should post the original.

It's quite clear that some were shot near or around the rocks and certainly didn't just move there to die. Why they were shot there is still a mystery but it doesn't necessarily point to there being anything sinister. The sinister assumptions are being made by the news agencies trying to capitalise on the tragedy...

That article makes so many conclusion jumps that its just stupid.

Even if the police did attack the Koppie, they found a firearm in the area... so were very possibly being shot at, which would justify them retaliating in my opinion.

And information gathered after the attack. Read the longer article I posted, people were shot in that Koppie, whether it was police or 'turd forces' that is what is still up for debate.
