Mass Effect: Andromeda

How is it that Xbox Live wants to charge R1149 for the game? I don't get digital pricing, especially when the currency has recovered and MS are still milking us. Works out at almost 90 dollars, 50% more expensive.

I think they're just slow to respond to currency changes. When the rand depreciated to around R15/$, they also kept games at old prices for a while before adjusting them.

With that said, digital games should be way cheaper than physical copies, but it's never the case. It's the same on PS. Even people overseas have been complaining about it for years...

Buy Xbox US voucher. Change region. Buy game :)

Looks like I might have to, but you're stuck in that region for three months

Wait unless that's just billing region? I get confused on the region thing

Heard some disturbing things about not being able to control your squad ala old ME.
Any truth to it?

You can still give tactical commands to your squad. However they are taking away the micromanagement of abilities and replacing it with AI.

I'm going to play the 10-demo on EA Access on the 16th/17th and then decide if I want to buy it or not.

Also itching but waiting for actual reviews first. Getting it digitally so can wait a bit :o

:D what was that last space adventure that let everyone down

Sure you meant space screensaver...

Mass Effect: Andromeda developer BioWare previously confirmed that the game’s multiplayer mode will follow a similar model to the one we saw in Mass Effect 3.

Today, the developer revealed that this also extends to post-launch support, which is going to be completely free. This is how Mass Effect 3 handled post-launch content for the multiplayer mode.

In that case, new maps, characters, and abilities were added in the months following the game’s release. The only thing EA charged for were blind loot boxes, which will make a return in Andromeda.

Also similar to Mass Effect 3, the multiplayer mode in Mass Effect: Andromeda will have effects on the single-player, but it’s not going to be mandatory. You’ll still be able to send strike teams on missions, or play them yourself for rewards in both single-player and multiplayer.

Mass Effect 2 is one of the best games I've ever played. On that basis I preordered ME3. Well, I don't think I played more than 2 hours of ME3 before uninstalling it. The graphics are worse than ME2, the controls feel janky and unpleasant and the missions are mind numbingly boring. In ME2 the character felt like an extension of my thoughts - controlling Shepard was subconscious and second nature. In ME3 the controls were a constant fight against the game, which is what really prevented any enjoyment for me and made me unwilling to progress further.

On that basis I'll be staying the hell away from any more ME games, unless they get 99 on Metacritic.

I also think ME2 was the best in the series. It was all about the characters and I hated that half of them never made it into ME3. I do prefer the framerate in ME3 though.

I liked the entire series and even the third one, the only thing that let me down about the third one was the ending. The graphics were an improvement over one and two and controlling it on the 360 was fine. I didn't really like the second one for the first half it felt a bit meh, having to do loyalty missions to get your guys to survive was a bit naff. The third one had more emotional moments that tugged on your heart strings, like Mordin sacrificing himself to save the Krogan, the various stories that came to an end were bitter sweet.
Yes not having a massive squad to control like in two was a bit of a wtf and the stupid War assests thing that was affected by multiplayer was also like WTF!!! and having a key member of the team locked behind a paywall also WTF!!!
